After two weeks out of state and the last we are now back to our regularly scheduled programming. Meet Sapphire! She is an Easter Egger that looks a lot like my BCMs minus the feet feather and comb. She is friendly and curious.

So the reality of chicken keeping is this time of year the chickens start looking ratchet because they loose feathers in clumps everywhere as they start their molt to grow fresh feathers for winter to stay cozy and warm. This creates supply chain issues for markets to sell eggs. Because supply is so unpredictable I’m not committing to anymore farmers market dates at the moment, but if supply is available we’ll still be doing the bi weekly Downtown Youngstown Farmers Market through late fall and winter. Thanks for understanding!

Unfortunately more chickens than usual are being free loaders so we will not be at the market this weekend, but plan to be there next weekend instead. Hopefully we can get these supply chain issues straightened out.

Meet Half Pint! As you may remember from a previous posting we ended up only having one baby this year hatch out in the coop that had appropriate mom behavior. Muppet has essentially adopted Half Pint as her own even though she didn't hatch Half Pint. I'm still holding out hope Half Pint is a girl, but with my luck they're most certainly a boy. Mr. Libido is likely Daddy and keeps an eye out on Half Pint as well.
