Swartz Farm is a 5th generation grain, fruit, and vegetable farm located in southern Rensselaer County, NY.

We are open seasonally in June for Pick-Your-Own Strawberries and in the Fall for our Fall Farm Store, Pumpkin Patch, and Corn Maze! Our 5th generation fruit & vegetable farm has been based in South Schodack, NY since 1921 when the family moved the farm from East Nassau. Until the mid 1960’s, the farm (then known as Spring Valley Dairy) was a fully-functioning bottling plant, selling dairy products directly from the farm, as well as through home delivery as the local milkman! Until recently, the farm continued to milk cows, selling the milk to a local cooperative. While we no longer operate as a milking dairy, we now board cows from another local family farm and continue to raise animals on the land that has been home to cattle for over a century. In the 1970’s, our family began focusing more on produce including our popular you-pick strawberries. In the Fall of 2011, we continued to expand the family business with the grand opening of our Farm Store, Corn Maze, & Pumpkin Patch.

Come visit us and see what catches your eye out of our 88 different varieties 🎃

Our Farm Store will be open until 6pm today, Sunday October 18th. The only way to get to the Real Pumpkin Patch (open weekends only) is with a free hayride, which adds to the fun (hayrides to and from the patch run continuously all day, with no more leaving from the store after 5:15pm). The Corn Maze is also open all day with the last tickets sold/entry into the maze at 5pm.

Our Farm Store will be open from Noon to 6pm today for the holiday, Monday October 12th. The daytime Corn Maze will be open all day with the last tickets sold/entry into the maze at 5pm. The Real Pumpkin Patch will also be open today! The only way to get there is with a free hayride, which adds to the fun (hayrides to and from the patch run continuously all day, with no more leaving from the store after 5:15pm).

In the patch we have 88 varieties of pumpkins and gourds this year! 😮 This includes everything from your traditional orange jack-o’-lantern-style pumpkins of many sizes, to blue, pink, red, white, yellow, and warty ones, pie pumpkins, and tons of gourds, so there is something for everyone!

‼️Update for Sunday October 11th: Tonight’s Evening Corn Maze event is CANCELED‼️ The Pumpkin Patch is also CLOSED for the remainder of the day.

After assessing the field we use for the nighttime corn maze, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel tonight’s event. We have gotten a lot of hard rain so far today and in addition to many of the pumpkins being waterlogged and falling apart, the paths are extremely slippery and unsafe. The forecast is calling for more rain this afternoon and evening, so conditions are not going to get any better. We know this news is going to disappoint a lot of people. Please know that this was a very difficult decision to make but one we ultimately felt was necessary for everyone’s safety and enjoyment ☹️

Our Farm Store will be open until 6pm today and the daytime Corn Maze is open until 5pm (while it isn’t as slippery as the nighttime maze field, it is muddy so please remember to wear boots). The Pumpkin Patch and hayrides are closed, but we have a variety of pumpkins available on the lawn at the store.

We will be open tomorrow for the holiday from NOON to 6pm and hope to be able to open the Pumpkin Patch if weather permits. Check back here in the morning or give us a call for updates.

Keeping our fingers crossed that Mother Nature is kind and holds back the storm from affecting us this weekend, as both the Pumpkin Patch and our Nighttime Corn Maze events are weather-permitting! We will post updates if plans change. ‼️Please note our amended hours this weekend to give us time to set up for our nighttime events‼️

🍁 Finally some beautiful Fall weather is in the forecast and we will be opening our Real, cut-it-off-the-vine Pumpkin Patch this weekend, Saturday and Sunday October 3rd and 4th!!

🎃 The Real Pumpkin Patch will be open Saturdays and Sundays ONLY (as well as Columbus Day) through the end of October, weather-permitting. The only way to get there is with a free hayride, which adds to the fun! In the patch we have everything from your traditional orange jack-o’-lantern-style pumpkins, to blue, pink, red, white, yellow, and warty ones, pie pumpkins, and tons of gourds, so there is something for everyone!

🌽 Our Farm Store and Corn Maze will be open this weekend from 10am to 6pm. The last Corn Maze tickets will be sold/entry allowed at 5pm, and no hayrides to the Pumpkin Patch will run after 5:15pm (hayrides to and from the patch run continuously all day).

🍅 The Farm Store is stocked with lots of home and locally-grown vegetables, refreshing apple c***r and sweet c***r donuts (while they last), beautiful mums, gourds, ornamental corn, corn stalks, and straw bales, and a selection of already off the vine pumpkins!

🐾 Well-behaved pets that remain on a leash and are picked up after are always welcome in the Corn Maze and the Pumpkin Patch (and get a free gourd to chew on at the patch)!

Update for Saturday September 26th: it’s now pouring rain here and the forecast is showing that it will continue through the weekend. **We have decided postpone the opening of our Real Pumpkin Patch until next weekend, October 3rd and 4th (weather-permitting of course!)**

In the meantime our Farm Store and Corn Maze will be open all weekend from 10am to 6pm (last ticket sold/entry into the maze at 5:00), and we have a selection of pumpkins of many colors and sizes available on the lawn, plus colorful gourds, mums, straw bales, corn stalks, ornamental corn, as well as lots of freshly-picked homegrown vegetables for dinner in the store!

‼️🍓Sunday June 28th: TODAY IS THE LAST DAY OF OUR STRAWBERRY SEASON! 🍓‼️

There are still some great berries out there to fill your bowls one last time, so hurry up and get here before it’s too late!

We will be open from 8am to 5:30pm today. Berries are $4 a pound, cash or check only. No minimum to pick and no entry or parking fees! Bring your own containers or we have quart baskets to pick in available for purchase.

Update for Friday 6/26:
📣LAST CALL FOR STRAWBERRIES‼️ This Sunday 6/28 will be the last day of our strawberry season!

While much-needed for our other crops, the heavy rain last night was not kind to our strawberry field. There are still some nice berries out there but with the rain damage and the forecasted heat on the way, we don’t anticipate the crop holding up much longer. We wanted to give everyone one last chance to get your fill before the season ends, so we will continue to stay open for the weekend. The berries at this point in the season are on the smaller side, but the little ones are extra sweet and like bite-sized candies!

We will be open today and this weekend, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday June 26th-28th, from 8am to 5:30pm, weather-permitting (we’ll stay open in the rain, but not in a thunderstorm).

Please read through the list below for important information you’ll need for your visit. ❤️🍓
⏰ HOURS: We open at 8am every morning, and close promptly at 5:30pm. We shut down the fields in bad weather, so if there is rain in the area, it’s always a good idea to give us a call before you stop by.
💲PRICES: Pick-your-own berries are $4.00 a pound. We have no entry fees and no minimum purchase! We no longer have pre-picked quarts available.
💵 PAYMENT: We ONLY accept CASH OR CHECK! We don’t have electricity at the stand and cell reception can be spotty on the farm, so we cannot take credit/debit cards or Venmo. There are 2 ATMs conveniently located less than a mile and a half away.
👈 WHERE TO GO: Please check in at our stand *BEFORE* heading out into the field so we can explain to you where to go. Please do not enter or cut through any other fields!
🧺 CONTAINERS: We encourage bringing your own containers! All containers must be weighed up at our stand *before* heading out to pick. We also have quart containers available for purchase at the stand.
🚭 SMOKING, ETC: There is no smoking/alcohol/drugs allowed anywhere on the property.
🐾 PETS: While we love pets and welcome them at our pumpkin patch in the Fall, for food safety reasons we cannot allow them in the strawberry fields.
