Key information!
Did you know snakes reach their highest numbers in August and September, when their babies are born?
Snakes commonly found in the United States, like copperheads and rattlers, can cause serious injury to a horse. Equines are at the top of the list of sensitivity to snakebites, and are followed in order by sheep, cows, goats, dogs, pigs, and cats. Horses almost always get bitten on the muzzle, and the spread of the venom containing enzymes, peptides and neurotoxins can be fatal. The resultant swelling can be so extreme that the nostrils almost close and breathing can become difficult or impossible. Shock is the most common problem following snakebites and prompt treatment is necessary.
If you know or suspect that your horse has been bitten by a snake, call your veterinarian immediately. Better to have a false alarm than to play catch-up later in a crisis situation.
Talk to your horse doctor about the likelihood of snake attacks in your area and seek guidance regarding the best preventative and treatment options.

Only early morning rides on these hot summer days!
Addy has been working hard, requiring a good nap!
We love our farriers!
“No foot, no horse.”
It’s National Farrier’s Week, founded by the American Farriers Journal in 1998 as “a time for horse owners, trainers, veterinarians and other members of the equine community to acknowledge the contributions of farriers.”
We at Woodside respect you and we honor you for what you do for equine welfare, horse owners, and the industry as a whole.
Cisco is enjoying the evening breeze!

Did you know? Who has a horse with one of these thumbprints?
A "Prophet's Thumbprint" is a birthmark in the form of an indentation, usually found on the side of a horse’s neck, and it is totally harmless although it comes with a lovely legendary story!
The Prophet Mohammed was wandering the desert with his herd of horses for many days, and as they approached an oasis he sent them forth to drink. But as the thirsty horses approached the water, he called them back. Only five of his mares stopped and returned to him, and to thank them for their loyalty he blessed them by pressing his thumbprint into their necks.
It’s believed that a horse with such a mark will be outstanding, being a descendant of one of these brood mares that the Prophet Mohammed particularly treasured.
Congratulations to Emileigh who graduates Magna Cum Laude tonight! Move over world, she is going to change things! We are so proud of the kind, intelligent, helpful and amazing woman she has become.
🇺🇸🇺🇸 Happy Memorial Day 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nice clean arena never lasts long! Lots to do here at Cavalry Ridge Stables!
Currently set up in the ring is a jump course specifically designed so horses can be lunged over the jumps in hand.
Some people seem to be looking at this the wrong way. Think about it from the other way around. You are a great rider if you want to be told the truth, because you want to know the truth and are willing to do the hard work to improve. YOU will be the one that improves the most. Those that think they already know or don't accept and learn from criticism will not progress, and will remain average.
Congrats to Emmy on a very successful show this past weekend in Dillsburg, PA. Pictured below showing Gander Hill California Covergirl and Timeless Breathless Desires 💗 Many blues were won! 🥇

And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.
