🐐 Can we just appreciate the plumbing for a minute?
I know, I know. Most people probably don't put their phone underneath a goat, take a picture, and think: "Wow. Absolutely beautiful plumbing."
But here we are. 😂 One of the things I have come to appreciate so much about goats is just how incredible their bodies are. This girl can take hay, grain, browse, minerals and water, things that look absolutely NOTHING like milk, and her body turns them into this beautiful, nutrient-rich food for her babies. And then, because goats apparently weren't impressive enough already, she shares some with us too. 💙 Her mammary system is an amazing little piece of biological engineering. Blood vessels deliver the nutrients needed for milk production, specialized cells inside the udder assemble and secrete the components of milk, tiny alveoli collect it, ducts carry it downward, and the udder stores it until it's time for a kid, or a slightly sleep-deprived human with a milk machine, to come collect it. 😂 And when you spend every day with dairy animals, you start noticing things you never thought you'd admire.
A well-attached udder.
Good capacity.
Nice teat placement.
Healthy tissue.
And those gorgeous veins and blood vessels doing their thing.
Look at that plumbing. 😍🐐
She's literally a walking milk factory powered largely by plants, sunshine, water, and an impressive determination to be the absolute most picky eater. And then that milk comes inside with me. Some goes toward feeding animals or for humans to drink. Some gets frozen. And some eventually becomes those little bars of Feral Faeries goat milk soap. 🧼🧚‍♀️
It's easy to look at a finished bar of soap and forget where it actually started. For us, sometimes it starts right here. Under a goat. At an hour of the morning when neither one of us particularly wants to be awake. 😂 There's something really special about knowing the animal behind the milk. Knowing what she eats, caring for her every day, watching her body do something so incredible, and then getting to turn a little bit of what she gives us into something completely different.
So yes... I'm posting a picture of the underside of my goat on the business page. And yes... I'm asking you to admire her plumbing. 😂 Because dairy goats are freaking AMAZING. 💙🐐 Come for the soap, stay for the unexpected goat anatomy content. 🐐✨🤣 coming from someone working on an Animal Science degree on the pre-vet track should you really be surprised? 😅

P.S. If you've never found yourself complimenting a goat's udder attachment before, congratulations on having a normal hobby. 😂

Applefest is officially in the books, and I've gone back and forth about whether I wanted to say anything about this. Overall, Feral Faeries had a great Applefest. Sunday especially was an incredible day, and I am so grateful to everyone who came out and supported us.
But here's the part most people probably don't know: I wasn't there Sunday. I sent help instead.
Because after Saturday, I honestly couldn't make myself go back. Saturday was such a strange mixture of some of the BEST interactions and some that were absolutely heartbreaking.
One woman stopped at our booth simply because she saw our soap from the walkway and thought it was beautiful. She came over and ended up leaving with four bars. 💙
The people who bought from us were SO excited. They smelled everything, laughed at the names, asked about the goats, talked about their favorite scents, and genuinely seemed excited to take home something I made. Those moments were incredible.
But then there were the looks. The sneers. The eye rolls. The whispers. The comments about prices. People picking things up and making disgusted faces while standing directly in front of the person who made them.
And my personal favorite...A gentleman smelled one of my soaps and loudly announced that it smelled like "rat's ass."
Sir. 😭😂 First of all, fragrance is subjective. You are absolutely allowed to hate it. Second... I have some questions about how you acquired such a confident reference point. 🐀🍑 not to mention its one of our best sellers. But jokes aside, those things hurt. I don't think some people realize how vulnerable it can feel to stand behind a table full of things YOU created and watch strangers openly judge them. These aren't products I ordered from a warehouse and tossed onto a table.
Those bars started with my goats. They started with 5 a.m. milkings before I go to work. Feeding animals in the dark. Caring for them 365 days a year. Buying ingredients. Creating recipes. Making batches. Cutting every bar. Waiting weeks for them to cure. Designing labels. Packaging products. Making lotion. Building inventory. Packing everything up and hauling what feels like half my life to an event.
There are months of work sitting on that table.
And there's a little piece of me there, too.
So hearing rude comments and seeing the dirty looks over and over again was honestly devastating. By the end of Saturday, I was emotionally exhausted. I went home and realized I just couldn't put myself back behind that table the next morning. I cried for hours that evening.
So I sent help. And from everything I heard, Sunday was WONDERFUL. People were excited. People were kind. Feral Faeries had an amazing day. And part of me is genuinely sad that I wasn't there to experience it.
We also found out we weren't the only ones who struggled Saturday. Other vendors talked about the negativity and disrespect they experienced, too. We even heard about a local restaurant that chose not to open Sunday after what they dealt with Saturday.
That's HEARTBREAKING.
Because "support small businesses" doesn't mean you have to buy something. You don't owe me anything because you walked past my booth.
You don't have to like my soap. You don't have to like the scent. You don't have to understand my prices. You don't even have to understand why some lunatic voluntarily gets up before sunrise to milk goats and then turns the milk into soap after working all day. Sometimes I question that one myself. 😂🐐
But kindness is FREE.
You can smell something and say, "That's not for me." You can decide something is outside your budget. You can smile and keep walking.
You can even stop just to tell someone their booth looks beautiful. That woman who stopped because she thought my soap was pretty probably had no idea what that interaction would end up meaning to me. She probably thought she just bought four bars of soap. But when I think about Saturday, that's the person I WANT to remember.
Her.
The people whose faces lit up when they found a scent they loved. The people who couldn't decide because they wanted too many. The people who laughed with us. The people who asked about the goats. The people who genuinely appreciated something I created. Those people FAR outweighed the ugly ones.
So thank you to everyone who supported Feral Faeries at Applefest. Whether you bought four bars, bought one, stopped to chat, complimented our booth, asked about the goats, or simply smiled as you walked by, you mattered more than you probably realized. 💙 And please remember this the next time you're at a festival, farmers market, craft fair, restaurant, or small business: There's a human being on the other side of that counter. You never know how much courage it took them to put something they created in front of you. You don't have to love it. Just don't make them regret being brave enough to share it.
And as for our gentleman from Saturday...
Keep an eye out for Feral Faeries' 2027 Limited Edition: Rat's Ass™ 🐀🍑🧼 A complex, sophisticated fragrance featuring subtle notes of audacity, unsolicited opinions, poor social skills, and just a whisper of ✨what the f**k made you say that out loud✨.
Apparently we've already completed our market research. 😂
Thank you for an unforgettable Applefest. 🍎💙

Charly wants to know… ARE YOU READY FOR APPLEFEST?! 🍎🍂🐐
Because apparently she is.
Has she helped make soap? No.
Contributed any milk? Nope.
Made lotion? Absolutely not.
Labeled, packed, or prepared anything? Not even a little bit.
But has she stood at the gate looking absolutely ADORABLE while everyone else works?
YES. And she has been VERY consistent about it. 🤣
Charly is currently enjoying her freeloader era: living rent-free, eating for free, contributing absolutely nothing to any preparations, and somehow still holding a supervisory position at Feral Faeries.
Her current responsibilities include:
✨ Eating
✨ Yelling
✨ Looking cute
✨ Providing emotional support
✨ ️Making uncomfortably intense eye contact
✨ Supervising all activities from a safe, non-working distance
And frankly, she's crushing it! 😂
Meanwhile, the rest of us are getting all your Feral Faeries goodies ready for Applefest! 🍎🧚‍♀️🧼
Charly believes we're on schedule. Charly also has no idea what the schedule is. 🤣😅

Meet Pauley: Feral Faeries’ anytime, all the time security department. 🖤
In the morning before work, while most sane people are still asleep, I’m outside in the dark milking goats. And almost without fail, I have a little shadow keeping watch.
Pauley sits nearby while I milk, patrols the property, stares suspiciously into the darkness, and occasionally looks at me like I’m the questionable one for being outside at 5 in the morning.
She takes her position very seriously. Especially under the red light, where she looks less like a farm cat and more like something I accidentally summoned. 😂
Pauley is actually pretty special around here.
She showed up out of nowhere around Christmas Eve last year. Then, in true Feral Faeries fashion, she surprised us with an entire batch of kittens we had absolutely no idea was coming. 😂 She has since been spayed, and when the rescue couldn't take two of the kittens, Pico and LBK (Little Black Kitty), ended up becoming permanent members of the chaos too.
The funny thing is, Pauley reminds me so much of my very first bottle kitten, Crawl. I had him for 15 years before losing him traumatically, and that loss left a hole I don't think anything could ever really replace.
Pauley didn't replace him. Nothing ever could.
She just appeared one Christmas, completely uninvited, carrying a little bit of something familiar with her. 🖤
And now, months later, there she is at 5 a.m. sitting in the darkness while I milk, keeping watch while the rest of the world is still asleep.
Those early mornings can be quiet and lonely. I'm tired, it's dark, I still have a workday and schoolwork ahead of me, and sometimes life in general just feels heavy. But then I look over and there's Pauley. Or one of the other animals is nearby, just existing beside me.
They don't need me to talk. They don't need an explanation. They don't care what kind of day I'm having or whether I have everything figured out. They're just there.
And I've realized how much that simple company means to me.
The animals make the quiet feel peaceful instead of lonely.
Maybe that's part of why I've surrounded myself with so many of them. 😅 There's something about walking outside and hearing the goats start hollering, having a cat appear out of the darkness, having a horse run to you when they see you, or feeling a little nose bump into you that makes the world feel a whole lot less empty.
Animals have a funny way of doing that. They don't fix everything. They don't erase grief or make the hard days disappear. They just sit beside you through them. And sometimes, that's exactly what you need.
Sometimes the animals that find their way into your life aren't the ones you planned for. They just show up when they show up, make themselves at home, and somehow become exactly the little presence you didn't know you needed.
So yes, technically Pauley is my tiny 5 a.m. security guard.
But I think her showing up around Christmas was a little bit of a blessing too. 🖤🐈‍⬛✨
10/10 night watch.
0/10 notice before moving in.
Would absolutely hire again.
P.s. this post is mostly so I can do a photo dump of the cute outside kitties 😅🤣

Monday brought to you by Nancy. 🐐☕
When you’re trying to be a productive member of the free loader herd, but your last two brain cells have officially clocked out.
Nancy would like everyone to know she is awake, alert, and absolutely thriving.
…Nancy is a liar. 😂
She’s got chores to ignore, hay to waste, fences to contemplate escaping from, and absolutely zero energy to accomplish any of it.
Honestly, same girl. Same.
Happy Monday from Feral Faeries, where the goats are feral but apparently even the feral need a nap. 🧚🐐💤

The Website Is ALIVE! 🧚‍♀️🐐
Well… I did a thing. 😂 Feral Faeries finally has a website! 🎉
It’s definitely still a work in progress! Not everything is listed yet, and I’m still figuring out what the heck I’m doing. Building a website is NOT something I’ve ever done before, and I’m not gonna lie… I’m a little scared of the internet . 😂
But I really wanted to get something up before school starts so there’s at least one place where you can see what we have, what’s coming, and where to find all the goat-y, faerie-infused goodness.
You can still always order directly from me, too! Honestly, that’s probably still the easiest way to do it. 😆 Just send me a message and we’ll get you taken care of.
So please be patient with my little website while I teach myself how to build the thing. There may be a few bumps, a few “WHY IS IT DOING THAT?!” moments, and probably some goat interference. 🐐
But it’s up. It exists. I built a website. WHO EVEN AM I?! 😂
Go check it out, poke around, and let me know if you find anything that looks weird or broken!
Thank you all so much for all the love and support. The goats really appreciate all the attention 😁😅💙

Good morning from the Feral Faeries Herd!
What kind of morning person are you?
Are you a sleepy, aloof, snug as a bug Smidge type?
A Yael on the roof trying to trim the tree type?
Or a completely oblivious Todd type? 👀🤣
