Song of September (Sweet Sixteen) is here! It is the earliest we have ever harvested these sweet crunchy beauties.

It was certainly a very hot harvest this week. Despite the heat Fall apples are here! Come stop icfarmersmarket stall or at our farm store.

📸 The Photos are of our Silken apples that we harvested today. Silken is a crunchy sweet apple with lots of aromatic undertones. It is a farm favorite! They will be available at the farm store by Thursday this week.

It has been a really wet week full of mud and wind. Thankfully we were able to get lots harvested including some really fabulous carrots 🥕!

🍎 Apple Season is heating up! We still have a few more varieties that we will be adding for Saturday.

🍐 The pear crop is small this season due to the cool temps during bloom. However we do have pears this week! Stock up while you can!

We have new apples varieties this Saturday!!!!

We just harvested Redfree, and Dandee Red, and Alkmene apples this week.

Apples this Week:
Alkmene - tart heirloom with hints of citrus
Dandee Red - tart with full flavor
Pristine - sweet tart with hints of peach
Redfree - well balanced sweet-tart flavor

Veggies this week:
Beets
Broccolini
Cabbage - Red last week
Carrots
Cucumbers - gherkin and seedless
Fresh herbs - basil and dill
Potatoes - Red Norland
Tomatoes - mix of colors

At the farm we will also have:
Sweet Corn - from Knights Farm
Onions - grown by Onion Grove
Peppers - grown by Abbe Hills Produce

Farmer Mary baking up white and seeded wheat sourdough for the farm. We will also have freshly baked turnovers and lots of locally grown pork, chicken, ice cream, cheese, and chocolate milk.

Pristine apples are in season folks!

We are working hard this week to get our first picking to market and stocked in the Farmstore!

Pristine is the first good eating apple of the season. Boy are they super delicious this season!!! Crisp, sweet-tart, full of acidity, and juicier than you would expect.

Iowa City Farmers Market folks come stock up this Saturday.

**If you are planning to come to the farm store please be aware there will be some extra traffic for the Brown Farm Pioneer Days. Another good reason to make a trek up to Central City!

Our second planting of broccolini 🥦 is looking swell!

Broccolini is the tender sweet half sibling to broccoli. You can use the whole stem because it is so tender. Also, it is much better adapted to our hot humid summers here in Iowa. We have it available our farmstore, Iowa City Farmers Market, and Dan & Debbie's Creamery this week!
