Anyone that asks me about clipping goats knows I have a strong opinion on this one.

#1 WASH YOUR DANG GOATS! Dirty goats burn up blades, donā€™t clip smooth and make me feel disgusting. Fun fact, Iā€™ve only bought new blades when Iā€™ve physically broke the teeth by dropping things. Do I wash every doe before she gets an udder trim or sanitary trim? No, but full body clip, YES.

#2 BUY QUALITY FROM A REPUTABLE MANUFACTURE! Cheaper clippers that have to be replaced annually cost you more than a set that will last several years. Iā€™ve been clipping goats and showing for 10 years and Iā€™ve owned TWO sets of clippers thatā€™s it.

There are many brands out there and you can find the one that works for you but do some research on what you are buying. Iā€™m a frugal as it comes so best believe Iā€™ve bought everything on sale, but I didnā€™t skimp on quality. I started with a corded set of Wahl Power Grip corded clippers when I first got into showing goats (they only retired due to once again too many drops). They were awesome and put through the ringer. In 2022 I decided to treat myself šŸ˜± and get the KM Cordless since I was clipping so much and nobody likes finding an outlet. I went with this model because if I ran out of battery I didnā€™t have to stop, just plug them in and keep going.

Fast forward to 2025 and the battery wasnā€™t holding a charge. For many people this means you are out shopping. For me all it took was a warranty claim and Wahl installed a new battery and we were back in business. This year I noticed the cord was having some trouble as the wiring mustā€™ve been giving out. Well these guys are 6 years old so I figured getting a new cord was due.

I reached out to Wahl asking to BUY a cord from them. They responded with ā€œwe are sending one outā€. No payment, no questions. Yaā€™ll, this critter had a 5 YEAR warranty and I see people all the time buying new ones each season or two. Iā€™d say I got my $260 worth.

Any teans or college kids looking for a some part time work. 6 to 10 hours a week. Cleaning pens, loading compost bags, general farm help if we keep those up. The work is dirty, hard and hot but outdoor around beautiful animals.
We also do Volunteers on Monday mornings for anyone that wants to come out and learn work.

We might have had a chickie explosion. We set eggs for us so we could raise some replacements hens for the flock. Looks like we had a good hatch.

These are were set for egg color. Blues, greens, olive greens, dark browns and spotted too! We do offer hatching eggs and custom hatching. Let us know if you want you oun set of adorable chickies. šŸ„š šŸ£ šŸ„

Iā€™m still recovering from getting about 7 hours of sleep combined from the last 2 days but it was all worth it. I need to catch up on sharing about our other goats but hoping we can find some pictures for that.

For claiming to not be a ā€œLaMancha Breederā€ we are sure having fun with our little crew. I got a kick out of a friend asking what the heck I was doing with something other than a Nigerian or a Nubian and my answer is thatā€™s what happened when you go to a show unsupervised šŸ¤£.

SWEET 2 BY 2 SHADY LADY brought home 2x šŸ„‡, 1x RCH šŸ…& 1x GCH šŸ† at her first show as a little October born dry yearling.

Showing goats is a blast but itā€™s also a vessel for the relationships and connections we make which matter the most. This show has been my favorite of the year so far for the quality time we got to have together. It was amazing to share the day with my best friend Josh who is to blame for this addiction and makes the best teammate. I had the honor of helping Fauna with her beautiful Wingwood Nubians where I always learn something. Then there was this crazy family that calls themselves Stomping C Farms that I canā€™t ever seem to get away from šŸ¤£. JK they make sure the day is filled with laughter and a good time. There are so many others too that were great to visit with, celebrate each other and share the joy of goating.

I know I'm mostly post the goats because they are so adorable. But we also take other animals out when we have them. Those that have seen me out with my bright pink bucket know that there is usually baby birds of some sort in there. We have baby chicks this month that are spreading joy. I love all the memories and stories that I hear from my friends at the senior living facilities.
