Every morning the juncos and wrens feed on the sunflowers in the garden. The smaller sunflower heads have small seed - just the size they can handle.
I’ve let lots of sunflowers bloom in my garden - and I’m talking lots! I have hundreds of volunteers every year. Sadly, I have to pull many of them because they interfere in the vegetable growing. But I always leave them grow, like the one in the video, around the pond. This is a dependable food for the birds.
The sunflower plants may not look that attractive to our eyes, but to the birds the look like paradise 💚
