I really can’t remember a better lettuce crop here on the Farmlet!
I’ve been growing lettuce for so many years, first for family and friends and then for Cafe Croissant when I owned it. I’d bring a big tubs of beautiful lettuce during the season and we use it in our salads and for sandwiches. That was a long time ago, and I do remember they being really gorgeous heads of lettuce.
Now I’ve been growing them for the FarmStand fridge for the last 10 years. As many of you can testify, it’s been pretty darn good lettuce. But this year it’s over the top! I’ve got some new varieties and they’re performing so well in this warmer, drier spring that we’re having. Really fantastic!
I’ve been cramming the Farmlet fridge with lettuce and kale all week and it was empty again today. Not anymore! I just put in the six heads of lettuce that you see in the photographs below. Each one is its own work of art! And last, but not least is the Dazzling Blue kale, amazing color, texture, and flavor.

💚 It’s been a perfect year for greens so far and I’ve grown some new and wonderful varieties of lettuce, kale and chard this year! I’l keep filling up the Fridge as you buy then- so they are super fresh and delicious 🥬

The Farmlet Fridge is in place again!! There is Lettuce, Kale and Artichokes - just harvested this morning.
In the FarmStand is the last of the garden veggie and flower starts I have for sale. They are healthy and beautiful and all can go in the ground now💚
I especially want to point out the lettuce starts- a variety pack of the gorgeous ones I’m growing this year! And the Italian Giant parsley, beautiful, tall, delicious! Every garden needs one. 😁💚

Anyone who bought tomatoes for me this weekend be aware that it’s getting very cold tonight. I saw 38° on my weather app.
If you haven’t planted your tomatoes, just keep them happy for a couple more days inside and then you can put them out. I’m seeing highs 40th is week and they will do great.
If you have planted your tomatoes.don’t worry. Just cover them with a gallon sized plastic pot or a large enough plastic container. Probably a yogurt container will work.
Then remember to take the container off in the morning after the sun comes out and warms them up.
Thanks so much everyone for coming by this weekend! 💚 I’ll have more tomatoes, and the eggplant and peppers and a few other things, out next weekend.
