I witnessed a virgin queen emerging. The more experience I get in this beautiful world of beekeeping, the more I love it!

I’ll check back to this colony in a week to see if she’s mated and started laying yet.

After watching far too many YouTube videos, and getting far too many versions of how the Demaree method is done, I decided to just go for it!

The two strongest hives in the bee yard were subjected to the vertical split and I’m crossing my fingers that this will be a positive influence on the amount of honey they produce this year.

This method requires weekly inspections and a little extra attention being paid to the colony but I think it’ll be worth it. 🐝🐝🐝

Learning a new skill today 🚜🚜🚜

A HUGE thank you to my neighbors/friends/tractor owners for teaching me how to operate their tractor and letting me borrow it to work some land. Today was a test run so I could become familiar with the machine but it was too wet to do the actual work. Hopefully the land will dry out enough for me to rake, aerate, and grate it soon so I can plant some pasture grasses.

I’m so lucky to have such great people in my life who support what I love to do! 💚💚💚

I had an awesome surprise visit at the market yesterday! I looked up and saw my mom, sister, and youngest nephew standing in front of my booth!! They drove over 90 miles just to pay me a visit and roam the ❤️❤️❤️ And my son, my partner, and his son were already there as well so there was lots of love in the room! Talk about feeling special!
