Do we need to talk about the 300,000 metric tons of beef that’s going to be imported into the US that’ll be marked at 25% under market value?? Do we really need to ask ourselves why it’s going to be so cheap??

We have SO many incredible farmers located around us. People you can actually talk to and get to know. People who care about the animals they raise and use practices that are not only good for the animals but also good for the soil and the environment.

Go get your beef from your neighbor!

Bring on the 🍯🍯🍯

I think the new ladies are finally settled in. 🐝

Yesterday I witnessed a lot of orientation flights happening where the bees fly in a figure 8 configuration just outside their hive to familiarize themselves to their new location and reprogram their internal GPS.

Today, however, there’s a lot of activity at the entrances where bees are coming and going. This is an indication of being in a honey flow! When I looked at the frames that were installed yesterday, I saw that there is already nectar being deposited into the cells that they efficiently repaired!

The rain last weekend really helped the plants along and the bees are here for it!

Ferments aren’t just for my family; they’re also beneficial for our animals.

Our pup gets a little kimchi and kombucha when we have it, and the birds get fermented food too!

Our neighbor, Mr Cooper, had corn for us so we loaded it up and brought it home.

I ferment it a little at a time and the birds not only get a delicious treat, but also tons of microbes that aid in their digestion and immune health. This helps our flocks stay healthy and provide delicious eggs 🥚

The apiary is growing! 🐝🐝🐝

I had the pleasure of purchasing 15 established colonies from a wonderful husband/wife team that were ending their beekeeping careers to focus on other areas of their life. 💛

Needless to say I’m so excited for this growth on the farm and looking forward to providing more pollination in our area and having more honey for my community to enjoy 🐝🍯🍯

3 weeks old means it’s time for the outdoors. This is where they’ll spend the rest of their days foraging all the goodies they can find.
