While getting ready to take the dominant bull (Millhouse) on a lease and a cow is in the throws of passion. You separate the other animals and let them "get after it". Doesn't keep the other bulls (Red and Nash) from supervising. Franklin is out on a lease in Collbran Colorado. About half an hour later the deed was done and Millhouse headed to Norwood Colorado on his first lease of the season. Red has leases at home for one more year and Nash will go on his first proving lease soon.

TPR Anna, (AHCA #60900) she's had her 5th calf this year and has impact dam status. It seems she's become the "caretaker" as the younger calves are seen with her more than their own mothers. It's hard to say why this is but she may be more protective? Possibly due to the fact she lost her very first calf at full term?

Amazing animals, this is Claudia's second calf. Ten minutes out and the little bull calf has eaten and is frolicking around while mama is dispatching his placenta.

Bess is one of the calmest cows here, last year she had a dummy calf that was drinking her urine instead of milk (it happens) so we had to do the molasses trick which worked great. No problems this year with calves suckling, knock on wood.

Halter training! Any of my colorado followers have a couple halter trained calm highland cows? Lady in Crawford is looking for one or two for a procession in Crawford, sounds like a couple blocks.
