Bartelt Angus Raise and sell registered and commercial black angus cattle

Fall rush on the farm has arrived. Weaning calves, registering calves, DNA testing calves, and this week we are chopping silage! Still thanking the good man upstairs for the rain we got last week of June or who knows what this corn would look like. Got plenty tall, but there’s not much corn in this corn silage.

We would like to wish everyone a safe fall season as we work on silage chopping and roll right into combining after this!

💥 These March embryo calves from our main donor Mohnen Jilt 2420 have had the gas pedal on the floor all summer long. 2420 should have 9 bulls on the sale next March, and with the consistency and power that she stamps into them, they are for sure to be sale highlights!

These half siblings are all sired by TD Doc Ryan and Connealy Craftsman. 2 bulls that both sold for over a half million!

We will have embryos available on this cow very soon as she is such a good producer, we simply do not need all the embryos that she has given us.

💥Check out this pair!🔥🔥🔥

A first calf heifer out of Sitz Resilient raising a Koupals B & B Diverse heifer calf with no creep up until this week! This first calf heifer is a maternal half sister to the heifer that was selected on our sale as the pick of the heifers selling to Jandel Angus Ranch of Rockham, SD!

Diverse continues to sire calves that are wide topped with explosive growth and we are glad we used him!

Super excited to see what the future has in store for this pair‼️

Last night we waited for the temperature to drop a bit and the sun to go down so we could AI our last group of cows for the year. We have recently expanded our registered herd and this leads us to breeding for some May calvers. There will be lots of exciting 2 year old bulls to come from these matings in the years to come!

Thank you to everyone who helped make it a successful breeding season!

We are already looking forward to working with our customers for next year’s breeding projects.

Fall breeding is right around the corner, so if you need any assistance getting the cows bred, give Austin a call‼️

It’s been a year for the heifer calf. We are very heifer heavy this year and have been more than impressed in the quality from top to bottom with this year’s heifer calves.

The female has always been our main focus and will remain our main focus going forward. Here is just a few favorites we were able to capture a photo of during pasture checks this week!

The future is bright‼️

*Note- these calves haven’t had any creep feed yet 🤯

No fancy 4th of July celebration here. Just our weekly road trip of checking pastures and fields with a few cold beers on the side. Proud to live in the greatest country to ever exist.

On behalf of the crew at Bartelt Angus, we would like to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July 🇺🇸

We hope everyone makes it through the weekend with all ten fingers 🤣

God bless you all!

Last round of embryos for the year went in last night. It was the first time in our life and our ET technician’s life that every recip cow that was set up for an egg took an egg. Pretty exciting! Highly recommend using the 7&7 synchronization protocol. Now we just have to patiently wait for ultrasound day to see how sticky they are.

Lots of exciting matings went in featuring Connealy Cornhusker, GB Fireball, Mohnen Discipline, Koupals Diverse, and some simangus embryos flushed to KRJ Dakota Outlaw.

Should make for a nice set of calves hitting the ground next spring!

We’ve never seen our pastures this thin before and we’ve never turned cows out this late but we’re happy to finally see some cows on green grass. It’s been stressful managing the herd through this drought but at the end of the day we’re just happy to be doing what we love everyday. We will all get through this together and be stronger because of it.

Happy Sunday!
