We started with a small herd of Dexter Cattle which expanded quickly.Our Dexters are 100% grass fed we have beef, dairy and breeding stock. With the help of renowned Dexter experts, Sally and Warren Coad, he learned much about the care and breeding
of Dexter Cattle, a naturally small breed of bovine, originating from the hills of Ireland. This breed is a dual-purpose breed, meaning that it is equally tasty for milk as well as beef. Each year, SPF produces between 6-8 calves per year, usually in late-Feb/ early-March which may be offered for sale as breeding stock, beef, or as a Family Cow. One of the Dexters’ best attribute is that because of their naturally small size, one does not need a lot of acreage to maintain a Family Cow. Generally an acre is enough to keep a single Dexter, provided adequate nutritional content of available grass or supplemental hay. Paul is also a skilled canner, both waterbath and pressure, skills he learned from his family growing up in the Pacific North West. There is no doubt that homegrown and raised is much better for one from a health perspective as well as just being a better tasting product! Many times we have meals that are 100% homegrown!
