Lazy 4 T Ranch Established in 1997 in West Texas and now settled in Kentucky, this is where faith, family, and horses come together. Why don’t you come on by?

We share a glimpse of ranch life, the show pen, cowboy humor, and the adventures of raising our son, Tate, in the western way of life. We are the Tracy and Michelle Thompson family, established in 1993. Shortly after we were married, we embarked on our cattle-raising journey, and soon after, dived into purchasing, training, and selling horses in 1995. We started by sourcing horses from Mexico and

bringing them to Texas, igniting our passion for the ranch way of life. In 2003, we relocated to Kentucky, determined to carry on the age-old tradition of ranching. The year 2021 marked a turning point, as we ventured into the captivating world of showcasing Ranch horses, fueling our passion even further. This led us to explore the realms of NRHA, NRCHA, and breeding. With a 22-year-old son, Ty, carving his own path in life, and a 9-year-old, Tate, who fearlessly participates in boxing, reining, ranch rail, and herd work, Lazy4T Ranch thrives as a family-owned haven. Lazy4T Ranch takes pride in embracing the time-honored legacy of a meticulously managed ranch. We go back to our roots, raising cattle the way our predecessors did – on horseback, with an unwavering commitment to their well-being above all else. It may be the less-traveled path, but it’s the one that resonates with us on a deeper level. Through years of dedication, we’ve discovered that the secret to the highest quality beef lies in hard work and proven methods of cattle management. Our ranch isn’t merely a cattle farm, it’s a testament to our way of life. We pour our heart and soul into ensuring our animals experience a stress-free and comfortable existence. While there may be different approaches to raising cattle, for us, there’s only one correct path. It often means sacrificing long hours and efficiency in favor of our animals’ well-being. Summer has started with a bang, and it's shaping up to be our busiest season yet at Lazy 4 T Ranch!

All of our mares have safely returned home from their breeding adventures in Texas, and we've had the privilege of welcoming guests from around the world — Japan, Germany, Canada, and all across the United States. 🌎

Our barn is full, our lesson program is thriving, and we're blessed with some of the very best boarders, horse owners, students, and friends anyone could ask for.

Yesterday, we hit pause.
No schedules. No deadlines. No rushing from one task to the next.

Just our little family, surrounded by God's creation, taking time to breathe, soak in the beauty around us, and reset our souls.

Running a ranch is rewarding, but it can also be exhausting. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is step away for a moment, listen to the birds, watch the water flow, and remember why you started this journey in the first place.

We're grateful for the blessings, the challenges, the friendships, and the opportunities that continue to come our way.

Here's to making memories, finding balance, and enjoying every moment of this incredible summer.

LIFE LATELY AT THE RANCH

We’ve been a little quiet on social media lately… but behind the scenes, ranch life has been anything but quiet.
The past few months have been absolutely jam packed with:
▪️ Multiple Texas trips for breeding, training, and horse-related business
▪️ Long days in the lesson program helping riders continue to grow in confidence and horsemanship
▪️ Preparing the ranch for our agriculture H2A worker and everything that comes with expanding operations
▪️ Hosting guests from Germany, Canada, and all across the United States
▪️ Early mornings, late nights, and a whole lot of hard work in between
From horses in training, lessons, breeding plans, ranch improvements, and meeting incredible people from all over the world — it’s been one season after another of staying busy and building toward bigger goals.

Sometimes the busiest seasons are the quietest online, but we’re incredibly grateful for every horse, every student, every client, every guest, and every opportunity that continues to grow this ranch dream.

There’s a moment that happens out here… and you don’t plan for it.

It’s not during a lesson.
It’s not something we schedule.
It’s when someone slows down long enough to actually see the ranch.
One of our guests wandered out with a camera, no agenda—just taking it all in.

A quiet horse soaking in the sun.
Another standing watch over the day.
And one… reminding us all not to take life too seriously.
That’s the part of this place that’s hard to put into words.

We’ve built this ranch around more than just riding. Yes, we teach. Yes, we train. But what people walk away with is something deeper—a connection, a reset, a feeling they didn’t realize they needed.

Please help us congratulate Todd Ellis on an incredible achievement!

Todd has spent the last year in our Lazy 4 T Ranch rope lesson program, putting in the hard work, dedication, and countless hours of practice. Last night, all that effort paid off when he entered his very FIRST roping and took home 2nd place out of 80 teams! 🥈🐎

Todd recently shared some heartfelt words about his journey:

"I wanna thank Jesus Christ for my savior and the opportunity to do something I've always wanted to do. Next I wanna thank the man who never gave up on me Mr. Mike Edmiston and his girls Codi Edmiston Christy Casey Edmiston for always helping me. I wanna thank Tracy Thompson for helping me learn more about horses than I ever could in a lifetime.. I wanna thank William Armstrong for always answering my questions and inviting me to his place.. Id also like to thank my love Staci Wiser for always putting up with me and supporting me in this.. 2nd place tonight in Matt Wickey's High Call Productions & Central States Ropers 8.5 slide outta 80 teams. I wanna thank anyone that I'm leaving out and has been there supporting me!!!"

If you know Tate, you know he cannot resist an opportunity to make somebody laugh. He’s truly a free spirit.

He lives for the reaction. Friends, family, horses….doesn’t matter.

And Marty? Just the most patient soul, standing there like, “This kid again.”

Tate, well….. He tries so hard to keep a straight face, but he’s always waiting for that moment when someone notices and cracks up.

Life with this boy is never boring — and poor Marty is now officially part of the comedy routine. 😆
