Rotational Grazing.
Before we started farming, Brian knew that he wanted to rotationally graze his animals.
Everyday, he moves the cows to fresh pasture. There are soooo many benefits for the cows, the land, and the soil.
The animals get more diversity in their diet, as they are forced to eat the variety of greens in their daily paddock.
Natural fertilizer (manure) is spread more evenly on the land, creating better soil health.
The land not over-grazed and is given time to rest, resulting in better soil, higher nutrient grasses, healthier animals, and healthier humans.
Rotational grazing takes work. It takes time to set fences each day. It takes time to move cows each day. It takes time to move water troughs regularly.
Does it make his job easier? No. Is it worth it to raise the healthiest animals and food possible, yes! Is it worth it to tend to the land and continually improve soil health? Yes!
Farmer Brian does not do things the easy way. But he is committed to raising animals in the healthiest way possible, to restoring soil health, and to providing others with clean food.
And for those wondering, our beef herd is completely separate from our highlands. Our highlands are our pets and are strictly for petting, cuddling and being cute 😍
Brian = Raise healthy food
Sara = Cuddle cute cows
Two separate enterprises.
One happy marriage.
