The Log Haus

The Log Haus Welcome to our little homestead where we raise a variety of chickens, ducks and an apiary. We invite you to share the beauty of the natural world.

The flowers are a natural extension of our vision of nurturing the world around us.

This week was all about turning over the sun-baked earth and preparing the soil for something beautiful. It’s been a long cold spring in Pennsylvania, and it’s been very hard waiting on that last frost date! There’s something special about scattering seeds saved from last year’s flowers, a reminder that every season leaves something behind for the next one to grow.

Now the hill is freshly tilled, the seeds are tucked into the warm ground, and the sprinkler is hard at work helping nature do the rest. Here’s hoping for another summer full of zinnias, blooms, bees, and bouquets from The Log Haus.

The Front Hill project is officially underway!

Today’s adventure: rototilling the hill so we can get our zinnia seeds planted. There’s something satisfying about turning over fresh soil and dreaming about what it will look like in a few months — rows of bright blooms waving in the summer breeze.

Right now it’s dirt, sweat, and dusty boots… but soon it’ll be armfuls of flowers. 🌸

If you drive by and see us bouncing around on the tiller, just know we’re out here planting future bouquets one toss of seeds at a time.

Happy planting season!

Spring reset continues!

Moving mulch is one of those projects that gives instant satisfaction — fresh beds, tidy edges, and suddenly it feels like you actually accomplished something. Few things make a bigger impact than fresh mulch!

It’s the kind of work that leaves your back sore, your nails stained, and your yard looking brand new. And those mulch-stained fingers? A badge of honor around here and worth it every time. 🤎

Happy Mulching Season from The Log Haus.

The grass is growing, the tractor is calling, and suddenly the rest of the chores don’t seem quite as urgent.

Must be mowing season!!!!

Farm stand days are getting closer, and the zinnias go in next week, if the Pennsylvania weather can warm up! 🌱🌱 🌱

Last November we tucked 300 mystery tulip bulbs into the ground and have been patiently waiting to see what would come up.

Turns out…300 isn’t nearly enough! 🤣

This time of year at The Log Haus, every walk outside feels like a little surprise with new blooms, new life, and something different every day.

Make sure to step outside, there is always something new waiting. Happy Spring!!!

Planted 300 Tuilp bulbs in November 2025, what does it look like now? A buffet for the squirrels and bunnies? 🤣 We definitely have garden visitors, but the bulbs are steadily coming up. I can’t wait to see if my investment in mystery tulip bulbs will create a riot of color.

Picked up a new hobby…wood spoon carving, because clearly I needed one more slightly unhinged project! 😜

Am I good at it? Debatable.
Am I committed to the look? Deeply.

Carving away in vintage red Frye cowboy boots like I have any idea what I’m doing.

Current results: one spoon, two bandaids, and more confidence than common sense!

What do you have planned for your weekend?
