This week homeschool looked a little different around here!
The kids traded their books for the barn aisle and got a real-life lesson all about horse hooves—how they grow, how they’re trimmed, and why proper hoof care is so important for a horse’s health.
A huge thank you to our bestest farrier ever for letting the kids get some hands-on experience and patiently explaining everything along the way. Moments like these are what make homeschooling so special—learning right alongside the animals we care for every day. 🐴
Safe to say we may have a few future farriers in the making! 🖤

We’ve been a little MIA over here at Castillo Acres… and for that, we’re sorry 🤍

Life on the farm doesn’t slow down, and behind the scenes we’ve been busy praying, planning, and preparing for an exciting 2026 season. Big things are coming, and we can’t wait to share it all with you!

But for now… we’re back!! 🙌
And what better way to come back than with a little glimpse of home 🥹

Today was something extra special here 🤎

The girls officially picked out one of their 2026 fair projects — and we are so excited to introduce you to Aliza and Max… our beautiful Boer goats 🐐✨

They won’t be coming home until the beginning of April, but the countdown has officially begun! The girls are already talking feed plans, show practice, and dreaming about fair week.

Fair projects are about so much more than ribbons. They teach responsibility, patience, stewardship, and the reward that comes from hard work. Watching our girls step into that is one of the sweetest parts of farm life.

Yesterday we started a fresh jar of homemade fermented garlic honey — simple ingredients with powerful benefits. Just raw local honey poured over fresh garlic cloves, left to slowly ferment and create a natural immune booster.

There is something deeply rewarding about going back to the old ways… trusting what God provided from the earth to help care for our families. Food truly can be medicine when it’s prepared with intention.

One jar at a time, we’re stocking our home with remedies made by hand, rooted in faith, and created with love. 🌿🍯🧄

Taking a moment to be thankful for all that we have 🤍

The animals, the land, the lessons, and the blessings that come with farm life.
…but also just slightly wishing we were someone on a warm beach, toes in the sand, sun shining, instead of taking 20 minutes to layer up just to be breaking frozen water buckets before coffee ☀️😅

We’re grateful — just very, very ready for spring.
