We were honored to participate in this week’s Coming Together through Agriculture and Mutual Aid in WNC panel discussion at Pack Memorial Library. Carolina Corona of Corona Fine Art has created more than an engaging exhibit of photographs and interviews. She’s also sparked meaningful conversations about the power of community and what we can accomplish together.

Thank you to Carolina and everyone who made this conversation possible, and to the farms and organizations working to strengthen our community through agriculture and mutual aid.

Meet Judith and David Biery, dynamic volunteers who have been with us for more than two years. David "fixes things that are broken" and Judith is one of our "Herb and Flower Ladies" (look for more about this group in a future post!). And they both pitch in wherever else they are needed.

We are grateful that Judith and David choose to start every Monday at Root Cause Farm.

Enjoy the sights and sounds of Root Cause Farm's Share Markets.

Every week during the growing season, Share Markets provide fresh, organic produce to our community. But behind every basket of vegetables are the people who make this work possible: the volunteers who grow and harvest, the donors and sponsors who support the farm, and the community that shows up to help make it all happen. Our friends at Bounty & Soul contribute to our markets in a big way, their support ensures that each week we have an abundant variety of fresh food for every person who comes to the farm. We are so grateful to all of those who help us make this incredible community resource a weekly pillar for our neighbors in need.

Together, we’re growing food, building connections, and nourishing our community. Thank you for being part of it. And a very special thank you to Pat Stone and friends for providing warm and welcoming Appalachian music as a beautiful backdrop for most Share Markets (and this video!).

We are honored to be part of "Coming Together through Agriculture and Mutual Aid in WNC," an exhibit created by Carolina Corona of Corona Fine Art featuring a collection of photographs and interviews that tell a story of the power of community and of what has been accomplished through mutual aid in WNC

Our Farm Manager, Jon McNair, will be participating in a discussion about the role of community farms on Monday, October 12th at 5:30 pm the Pack Memorial Library Pack Memorial Library in Asheville. If you are unable to attend the event, make sure to stop by the library anytime between now and December to view the exhibit.

Our season is coming to a close, and we have just three more volunteer Sundays left. Join us from 4 - 6 this Sunday, October 11th as we continue to harvest and prepare the Farm for the quiet season ahead.

All are welcome, and no experience is necessary. Whether it's your first time, or whether you are a weekly regular, we would love to see you this Sunday!

It's tempting to cut back all those dead flowers and vegetables in our garden once the growing season is over. But...not so fast!

Our Farm Manager Jon McNair explains why leaving some of that “dead” plant material in place can actually be good for your garden, and good for the insects and microorganisms that call it home. 🐞🦋🐝 From overwintering insects to erosion control, there’s more happening in your garden than you might think!

The garden is giving us plenty to be excited about right now. Kale, collards, chard, lettuce, and other leafy greens are thriving in the cooler days of fall.

Hear the music in the background? Pat Stone & a group of friends come and serenade us nearly every week! We are so grateful for how they contribute to the atmosphere of our Share Market.
