Meet Sarah, one of our amazing summer interns! 🌱

"Hello! I'm Sarah Trefz, a senior at UNC Asheville studying Environmental Management and Policy.

As a Boone native, I've always felt a strong connection to the mountains and communities of Western North Carolina. I'm excited to spend the summer at Root Cause Farm learning more about sustainable agriculture and food systems, connecting with community members, and working outdoors.

One of the things I'm most passionate about is the belief that everyone deserves access to fresh, organic food. I'm looking forward to meeting volunteers and community members throughout the season!"

Make sure to say hello to Sarah when you visit the farm this summer!

At Root Cause Farm, we welcome even the youngest of volunteers. Because it's never too early to teach kids about the value of serving our community and nourishing our neighbors.

Join us for Drop-In Volunteering at Root Cause Farm every Sunday from 4–6 pm. No experience needed and young people are welcome when accompanied by an adult they can work alongside. Just bring clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. 😊

Invest in the community you love!

At Root Cause Farm, we believe strong communities are grown through connection, shared responsibility, and access to nourishing food. We invite local businesses who care deeply about the future of Fairview and Western North Carolina to partner with us in this work.

Our 2026 sponsorship opportunities offer visibility at Fairview Farm Fridays, the Take Root festival, newsletters, social media, and more. Sponsors help support fresh food production, education, volunteering, and resilience in our community.

Together, we can create lasting local impact.

It takes a community to keep a farm growing. πŸ’š

We recently updated our Root Cause Farm wish list with supplies that help us care for the land, support our programs, and serve the community: everything from landscape fabric to whiteboard markers and everyday farm essentials.

View the farm wish list here: https://loom.ly/pnzBLBc

If you happen to already have gently used versions of any of these items, we’d love to hear from you too.

Every contribution, big or small, helps strengthen what we’re building together here in Fairview. Thank you for continuing to show up for this farm and this community. 🌱
