WHY DO WE GROOM A HORSE BEFORE RIDING?

Grooming isn’t just about making our horses look shiny and beautiful (although… we do love that part! 😍).

It’s an important part of good horsemanship and helps us start every ride the right way.

Here’s why grooming matters:

🧹 1. It removes dirt & debris
Dirt, dust, and tiny bits of hay can get trapped under the saddle or girth and cause discomfort—or even rub the horse’s skin.

❤️ 2. It helps us check our horse
While grooming, we can look for cuts, swelling, sensitive areas, or anything that doesn't seem quite right.

🤝 3. It builds trust
Grooming gives the horse and rider time to connect before getting in the saddle. It's a chance to slow down, communicate, and build a relationship.

🏇 4. It prepares the horse for the ride
A clean, comfortable horse is better prepared for tack and movement.

🧠 5. It teaches responsibility
At Brandi’s, we want riders to understand that horseback riding isn't just about getting on and riding. Taking care of the horse is part of being a good rider.

It's a little late but wanna say that’s a wrap on an AMAZING summer of horse camps! 🐴☀️

From riding and learning to grooming, games, laughter, new friendships, and plenty of time spent with our four-legged friends, this summer was filled with unforgettable memories. 💕

Watching our campers grow in confidence, learn new skills, and have so much fun at the barn has been the best part of all!

A new school year means new opportunities to learn, grow, and reach new goals. As our riders head back to the classroom, we wish each and every one of you a successful, fun, and inspiring school year!

Remember, learning doesn't stop when the school bell rings. Time spent at the barn helps build confidence, responsibility, perseverance, and teamwork—skills that carry over into everyday life.
