We are less than a month away from opening the farm back up to the public for our fall season! We’ve been working hard getting everything ready, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back to Gillis Family Farm!

🎉 OPENING DAY: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26th!

Bring the whole family out and make some fall memories on the farm! There’s plenty of fun for everyone, including:

🍂🚜 Gillis Family Farm Fall Field Trips 🚜🍂

We’re excited to announce that Fall Field Trips are back this October at Gillis Family Farm! 🌽🐐🐄🐓

Our field trips are a fun and educational experience for students and groups, with up to a 3 1/2 hour stay on the farm:

✅ Arrival between 9:15 AM - 9:30 AM
✅ Small group rotations for a more personal experience
✅ Guided farm animal tour – meet cows, goats, chickens, turkeys & more
✅ Hayride around the farm & fall garden area + a lesson on the pumpkin life cycle 🎃
✅ An educational corn maze where farm-related questions help guide the way 🌾
✅ Lunch at our picnic tables
✅ Playtime on our farm playground after lunch
✅ Each child receives a small pumpkin (while supplies last!)

🕒 Field trips wrap up between 12:45PM - 1PM depending on arrival.

👥 Group minimum: 50 people

💲 Price: $11 per person (parents & siblings included)

🎟 Teachers & bus drivers: FREE

The kids just couldn’t wait for us to finish the new combine slide before they had to try it out! 😂🌽

We’re getting close to being done, and I think it’s going to be a great addition to the farm!

Who else is like Farmer William and starts a project with a budget… then somehow ends up WAY over budget? 🤦‍♂️😂

Oh well… it’ll be worth it! We can’t wait for everyone to come out and give the new combine slide a try this fall! 🚜🌽

Just a little more work and she’ll be ready!

🌻 August Sunflower Update 🌻

We've had several folks asking about our August sunflower field, so here's the latest update.

We planted another sunflower field back in July that was expected to bloom within the next week or so. Unfortunately, when we planted it, we were dealing with extremely hot and dry conditions, which caused some germination issues. Then, just as things started turning around, all of the rain we've received has created another challenge by leaching away much of the fertilizer.

As a result, our sunflowers are much shorter than we had hoped, and I don't expect them to gain much more height before they bloom. I'm not throwing in the towel just yet, but at this point it's honestly not looking very promising.

The good news is we do have sunflowers and zinnias planted for our Fall Festival in October! They should be blooming during our fall activities and will be located at our main farm:

This year's flowers will not be in the field with the big oak tree because we rotated our corn maze into that field. Instead, the sunflower field will be in the original location where we first started our sunflower fields back in 2020.

We're sorry for the change and appreciate everyone's understanding. We'll continue to post updates as the flowers get closer to blooming. Here's hoping Mother Nature has one more surprise in store for us! 🌻

🌻 Thank You for an Amazing Sunflower Season! 🌻

And just like that, our 2026 sunflower season has come to an end.

We want to sincerely thank everyone who came out to visit, take photos, make memories, and support our family farm. Seeing so many smiling faces in the fields is what makes all the hard work worthwhile, and we truly appreciate each and every one of you.

Stay tuned—we may have another sunflower field blooming toward the end of August. If not, we are planning to have a beautiful sunflower field blooming during our Corn Maze season in October, so you'll have another chance to enjoy the flowers this fall.

Thank you again for another wonderful sunflower season. We can't wait to see everyone back at the farm this fall! 🌻❤️

🌻 Wednesday, July 15th – Final Day! 🌻

Today is the final day our sunflower field will be open for the season!

We sure did enjoy—and definitely needed—the rain, but it's causing the sunflower heads to start leaning, so we've decided today will be our last day.

If you've been planning to visit, this is your last chance to come enjoy the flowers, take photos, and make some memories!
