During our June 12-14 Cedar Potts-Warner clinic we will be remembering Mark Russell the instructor who put me on the path I am now with my horses. We will share stories and memories of him and watch/discuss one of his videos he and his wife Hela produced. It will be 20 years this October when I first met Mark and that meeting changed forever my horsemanship. I also would not have gone looking and found Cedar if I had not first met Mark so long ago.

This June is the 10 year anniversary of his death. I was so lucky to have worked with Mark for almost 10 years.

Cedar Potts-Warner will do a lecture 5/9/2026 at 1 pm a continuation of our last lecture on looking at the musculature of the horse. We will look more in depth at work in hand that helps the horse in proper muscle development. It’s also a good way for the horse to learn these exercises without a rider on their back. This lecture will be interactive

$25 to participate.

Stages of piaffe. Asking piaffe under saddle more now. We move between more level balance to more sitting which is of course much harder. A work in progress. Wouldn’t be here with Joplin without help from Cedar

Bent Tree Farm is excited to host Dr. Jennifer Miller for a day of learning January 18, 2024, 9-4. Cost is $100 for the day. Lunch is potluck. Payment in advance is required. New covered arena should be ready!

Join Dr. Jennifer Miller for a day of looking at posture and gait patterns. The goal of the day is to start to train your eye to assess posture and movement. We will start off talking about posture versus conformation, functional versus healthy versus “correct” posture, what might affect how a horse looks from the outside both standing and in motion. We will then go over how to begin to train your eye to see posture in movement.
In the afternoon we will have lab time - looking at horses and discussing as a group what we see. We will look at horses standing and moving and go over how I evaluate a horses posture. We will explore the “why is that” of what our eyes observe, trying to match form and function as it relates to how a horse carries himself.
