A critical component of our sustainable growing practices, this seemingly simple twist tie is actually a pheromone lure to disrupt mating practices of harmful insects throughout our orchards. As an alternative to harmful insecticides, we utilize biological controls to proactively protect our fruit by preventing harmful insects from reproducing in the first place. Spread throughout our fields, these twist ties, or pheromone dispensers, confuse male insects when trying to locate females for reproduction. This confusion obstructs their ability to mate and thus wipes out the population of harmful insects to prevent pest damage within our orchards.

Cropdate w/ Farmer Henry. After some much needed rain, the sun is shining and things are progressing rapidly. We should begin Bennett Blueberry Harvest in about 10-14 days and Bennett Peach Harvest in about 3-4 weeks. Still too early to know what kind of season we’re in for, yield wise, but quality is looking great! Visit bennettorchards.com for a daily update on availability in-season. Bennett Peach Blossoms never get old 🌸 Last month, they turned our “office” into a beautiful sea of pink.

As fruit growers, it’s one of the most stunning but stressful times of the year. One cold night during bloom can change everything. We pulled plenty of all-nighters this spring to protect our crops for you.

Spring is abuzz at Bennett Orchards! 🐝🫐

Did you know that each spring, we rely on a selective cross-pollination strategy in order to pollinate millions of Bennett Blueberry blooms in just a few short weeks?

This approach combines native pollinators, supported right here on our farm through stewardship practices, working alongside bumblebee quads and honeybee hives brought in from local apiaries.

Together, they pollinate every 🫐 blossom in harmony, so that you can enjoy big, beautiful Bennett Blueberries this summer!

Last summer, despite a lighter crop, we were proud to donate and distribute over 2,100 lbs of Bennett Blueberries and Bennett Peaches directly from our family farm to faith-based food pantries across Delmarva, through independent deliveries as well as gleaning efforts facilitated by area nonprofit, producer-only farmers markets.

These pantries serve individuals and families facing food insecurity, and we believe everyone deserves access to fresh, nutritious fruit grown right here on Delmarva.

With your support, we can continue making a difference together. Thank you to the incredible volunteers at these pantries & markets who help deliver the taste and nutrition of a Delmarva summer to neighbors in need.
