Ice Cream for Breakfast? 🤔 I think so!

🍦Registration is NOW OPEN for our 1st U-Pick event of the season. Stroll the field, snipping your favorite flowers to take home and enjoy. Afterwards, grab a half-pint of ice cream, made fresh from one of our favorite Ohio Dairies - Velvet View Farms.

🍦 Registration includes one U-Pick cup (fill it up with your favorites!) and a half pint of ice cream. We’ll also have a variety of on-farm activities like ice cream coloring pages, photo ops, and DIY Bouquet Boards. We’re all about activities that keep the kids happy so you can take a few minutes to breathe 😉

🍦Registration is required and limited to allow us to serve our guests safely and in optimally. Bringing kids that are not picking flowers and just here for the ice cream? That’s alright - we’ve got an add on ice cream only option 😊

We are SO excited to bring you our Summer U-Pick Series! U-pick events on the farm are perhaps my favorite way to share flowers with others. I get to meet people in person and share with them the joy and peace that’s found in strolling our flower fields with the fresh air feel of the farm and cows roaming the pasture.

This year we’re bringing back some favorites as well as adding some new features like Live Music and Homemade Ice Cream. Check out the details below and mark your Calendars. 🗓️

🧘🏼‍♀️ Back by Popular Demand! Join us in a slow flow led by Susan Smith, MD then pick your favorite flowers in the U-Pick field, all while enjoying live music by Jamey Leigh Music

Dahlia Date Night: September 19 @6:30-8pm
🌅 Take a stroll through our flower fields at Sunset with your special someone and enjoy live music by Ben and David Hohenstein. U-pick flowers (including dahlias), photo opportunities, local desserts, and permanent jewelry, and live music - all within the cozy U-pick field. 🎶 💐 📷

That’s a Wrap! 💐

Our Spring CSA is coming to an end and all I can say is WOW. These ladies received some of the most highly anticipated flowers of the season - Tulips, Ranunculus, Snapdragons, Peonies and more! Each premium bouquet is carefully created to bring the season’s best stems on a regular basis. There’s truly no therapy like flower therapy!

While I’m sad to see these Spring blooms go dormant, our Summer CSA flowers are coming in hot. Warm season annuals have a way of catching the eye with their bright colors and vibrant shapes and textures. We have just 3 more spots left in our Summer CSA program, where each member receives 5 weekly Summer bouquets. Whether it be a weekly treat after a chaotic week or a thoughtful gift, our fresh flowers wont’ let you down 😉

💜 Purple reminds me of some of the most impactful people in my life. Mom, grandmother, mother-in-law, babysitter, aunt, friend. Maybe it’s because for many of them it’s their favorite color. Maybe it’s the timeless elegance of varying purple hues and motherly hug vibes I get. It may not be my favorite color but always reminds me of my favorite people and memories.

💜Purple, blues, indigo and the tiniest pops of yellow and apricot are filling our bouquets this weekend. Limited quantities available at Wild Brew in Clyde to give you that fix of sweet nostalgia 💐

We’ve hit June, the month most flower farmers get pretty impatient. We’re past the excitement of the year’s first blooms (bye-bye Peonies ☹️), but most summer perennials and recently planted annuals have not yet bloomed.

Don’t let this slump get you down. While it may not seem like a lot is in bloom, it’s coming! Like many seasons of quiescence, there is much to reflect on and appreciate while we wait. Growth to appreciate. Stillness to learn from. And a Present that will never be had again.

Looking at the U-Pick field tonight I realized the lilies are twice as tall as they were a month ago and sunflowers are about to bloom 🌻 Other like Delphinium and lavender are almost there! So while the WOW of Summer Flowers is not yet here, there is still so much to enjoy during this “stall.” We’ll be sure to share them when they’re ready 😉

🎓 This weekend we’re celebrating the next round of local seniors with graduation bouquets at Wild Brew (Clyde) and Marigold Shop in Fremont starting Friday 5/29.

Let me tell you a story about this flower 📖

It started with what I think has been one of the best date nights Joel and I have ever had. ♥️ No - I promise this is not about to get raunchy 😉 We were at a plant auction last year ✨ Let me just pause and say how truly amazing this was ✨ I am not a typical auction goer and had no idea what I was doing but when I saw the number and types of plants there … I was ecstatic 🤩 And Joel… well auctions are like his stomping ground. Needless to say, we were both in our element. 🥳

When I realized Baptisia (pictured above) was one of the items for bid, I was pumped. 🤗 It had sat on my wish list of perennials, but had been a little hard to find. I figured I’d grab maybe 4. I ended up winning the bid and was ready to tell Joel how many I wanted when he threw his hand up in the air like a cowboy lasso. 🤠 When I asked what that meant, he said “I told them we’d take them all.” How many were there you may ask? 12. 12! 😑

Over the last 8 months I have nagged him about this total miscommunication and his “no big deal” response, explaining this was WAY more than I needed.

🪻Then they started to bloom. Some purple, some what I’d describe as lavender lemonade color. So pretty, full and a fun tall texture in a bouquet.

Joel’s response? Told you so. 😑🙄 Total chest puffing pride.

Being on the losing side of a marital argument is never easy, but moments like these remind us of our true “why.” Farming as a team means leaning into our differences to build something stronger together. It isn’t always smooth sailing, and we certainly bicker along the way, but the connection and shared growth make every challenge worth it.
