We serve farm to table cafe menu, using wood fire grill, smokehouse and wood fire brick oven. Old Germantown is located at W148N12696 Pleasant View Drive. We are 120-acre farm and our café is 1,000 feet from the road. You won’t see the building at all when you are coming from the south. If you know where Freistadt Road is you will easily find us. Take Freistadt Road to Pleasant View Dr. (refer to the coordinate W148). Pleasant View Drive is the first road east of Pilgrim Road. We are almost 1 mile north of Freistadt Rd. on the east side of the road (refer to coordinate N12696)

You can also find Pleasant View Drive by using Rockfield Road. Drive east on Rockfield Rd. until it dead ends on Pleasant View Drive. Turn right and head south. You can also find Pleasant View Drive if you coming from the north on Country Aire Drive. Follow Country Aire until it turns north into Bonniwell Rd. You will soon find Pleasant View Drive and must turn to drive south. Our driveway is gravel, surrounded by cropland. The driveway is wider than most, about three football fields long, and leads straight to the barn. Follow the gravel driveway in front of the barn that leads you to our parking lot.

The boil is, arguably, the most vital part of the brewing process.

Boiling the hops adds flavor, bitterness, and aroma to the wort, with the added bonus of being a preservative.

You can add hops at different times of the boil and in different amounts to add certain flavors, aromas, or bitterness depending on the style or your preference.

So while steamy, the boil is incredibly important to making b**r.

The word sparge comes from the Latin verb ‘spargere’, which means “to sprinkle” 💦.

Once the wort is clear, it is time to move it to the brew kettle.

And while we do that, we “sprinkle” (or spray) water on top of the grains to rinse off extra sugars.

It’s a key step to ensure our brewing is as efficient as possible.

If you have been around for a bit you know that we love our staff at Old Germantown. We wouldn’t be where we are without every single one of them. Today, we would like to talk about Megan. You probably recognize her as she works most days we are open for the past few years. However, OG wasn’t the first time we got to know her. We officially met her back in the 90s when Erica started synchronized swimming. She was a high schooler while Erica was a 4th grader and Megan’s mom was the coach to both of them. Ever since then, Megan has been in our lives. She even coached Will in swimming for a bit. Megan was a very talented swimmer, both in competitive and synchronized swimming. She graduated from Germantown where she competed all 4 years as a varsity swimmer and made multiple trips to State. She even won a coveted state title in the 500 free. A couple weeks ago she was inducted in the Germantown Athletic Hall of Fame. We couldn’t be more proud of her and everything she has accomplished! Make sure you congratulate her the next time you see her!
