Compass Plant CSA We are Grinnell's first established consumer supported agriculture group (CSA). Compass Plant CSA was formed in 2000 and has been serving the area since.

We focus on environmentally responsible farming practices in our gardens and with our livestock. Compass Plant CSA has been in operation in the Grinnell/Poweshiek Iowa area for 22 years. We offer a buffet style of Community Supported Ag. share to our members. By coming to distribution day you select what produce you want to take home for your eating pleasure. Along with locally grown, chemical free produce, we offer pastured poultry products, farm fresh eggs, grass fed pork products and a selection of breads. Compass Plant CSA distributes weekly shares from May to October, and bi-weekly until December. We also proudly participate in the Grinnell Farmer's market which is held twice weekly on Thursdays and Saturdays from May to October. 🍋 Lemonade

After a summer of lemons showing up FREQUENTLY, we found some lemonade growing by the house. Chicken of the woods, a favorite fall fungus! 15lbs worth. We had some for breakfast, froze some, dehydrated some and made vegetable stock with the trimmings. The rest is being shared.

We will NOT be at market tomorrow, October 1st. The last few weeks have thrown 🪣 of water at us, more pest pressure then we have had in years and brought fungal rot to the top of the list of new issues this year. Not to include escaped piglets enjoying some of the lettuce and ongoing injuries to someone(Lisle)

We will be at market on Saturday October 3rd with veggies, eggs, meats and breads. Thanks for everyone who chooses local foods and markets!

There will be some eggs available tomorrow at Olson's Garden Market stand.

BUT! BY SOME MAGICAL ALIGNMENT, I have found time between tasks to bake the Dakota bread for tomorrow. Sourdough is on the docket, if the stars 🌟 align. We will still have lettuce, herbs 🌿, Asian greens, eggplants 🍆 and LOTS of Beef, Pork and Chicken. Eggs 🥚 too!

Update on Lisle:

Most of the stitches are out. BUT, one seems to be embedded in the scar. They opened it up to encourage that area to expel the stitche,but he has more follow ups. So, there will be sourdough bread at market, but no other choices. Haven't found my doppelganger to share the work!

WE HAVE LETTUCE FOR MARKET TODAY!

ALSO, for those who are curious about Lisle's recovery, he is doing better and trying to use his hand with the wound bandaged. The photo is the end result of the surgery. (No pun intended)

We did get to the market today! We will have basil, breads, eggplants, cabbages, leeks, 🥚 and grassfed 🐔 beef and pork....

We did get to the market today! We will have basil, breads, eggplants, cabbages, leeks, 🥚 and grassfed 🐔 beef and pork. Lisle is home resting more comfortably now his surgical site has been redressed and a different pain killer provided. Wish me luck!
