You can buy a pumpkin anywhere and we realize that, but it's about the family experience and memories that are made at Bennett Farms! The idea of "Bennett Farms" came to Jim Bennett in the form of a dream. On September 29, 2009, I woke up with the phrase "if you plant it...they will come" ringing in my head. I traced my thoughts back, trying to remember what I was last dreaming about...it was pump
kins! You see, we had a tripped planned in the coming weeks to visit a pumpkin patch. Once I figured out I was dreaming about pumpkins, it all made perfect sense! I woke my wife up from her deep sleep to inform her of my dream and how I planned to create our own pumpkin patch, only to hear her tell me, "That's great...now go back to sleep!" From that day, I started putting my ideas on paper and making them come to fruition. I was lucky enough to grow up on a farm and witness first hand the term "life on the farm". I wanted to create a refuge for those who do not have the ability to witness life on the farm. My goal is to create an agricultural learning experience that individuals (children, parents, and grandparents) can come and enjoy. You can buy a pumpkin anywhere...but you cannot put a price on the experience and the memories that you can create at the pumpkin patch. Farming has been a way of life for the Bennetts for many, many years. I'll start with the history of my grandfather...Hugh Bennett...who passed away February 25, 2010. He was first and foremost the best man I have ever known...and my driving ambition in this project. My grandfather loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He loved the land and making it better any way he could. He loved to watch things grow and approached everything he set out to do with a "Can Do" attitude. My father and I both share many of the same mindsets and enjoyments in life as our father and grandfather respectively. I was able to tell my grandfather about my dream and the ideas to make it a reality before he passed away. He seemed to love every aspect of the plan, and he had many ideas of his own that I have incorporated into this endeavor. I, therefore, dedicate Bennett Farms to Hugh Bennett. All of my efforts, ideas, motivations, and ways of thinking are direct reflections of Hugh Bennett.
