Welcome, Silent Picker!
Sometimes the right bull finds you.
After months of searching for our next herd sire, we knew exactly what we wanted, but finding him wasn't going to be easy. We wanted proven genetics, easy disposition, big b***d, easy keeping, good feet, and make beautiful longhorns. We knew we had to go back to our roots and start looking at Dickinson Cattle again.
There was just one problem.
Most of the Dickinson bulls available were either young prospects or BIG Deals. We needed a mature bull ready to step into our main herd.
Then, thanks to the Longhorn Friends Search bar: "Bull," we found Silent Picker.
And after doing some research...we knew.
A 2022 son of the impressive ICE Pick, out of the beautiful Silent Soloist (Silent Iron daughter), Silent Picker stacks generations of legendary genetics including Dragon Iron, WS Jamakizm, Field of Pearls, Super Bowl, Cowboy Tuff Chex, Rural Safari Son, Dragon Ice, Top Caliber, and Cut'N Dried. The pedigree speaks for itself.
But pedigrees only tell part of the story.
What impressed us most was the bull standing in front of us.
He's built like a bull with tremendous body, clean lines, excellent structure, and a brindle coat that demands your attention the second he steps into a pasture. He's easy to handle, and after spending just over a day working with him, we knew he possessed the quiet disposition we value so highly. You can tell he spent time in the show ring, those cattle just end up being easier to work, and it shows.
Even better...the timing couldn't have been more perfect.
Silent Picker was only about an hour from RL Black Market's new home, making one unforgettable road trip even more memorable. One incredible bull headed south, another incredible bull headed north.
Sometimes things just fall into place.
A huge thank you to Michael Owen for trusting us with this outstanding young herd sire. We truly believe there isn't a cow in our pasture that won't benefit from what Silent Picker has to offer, and we can't wait to watch the next chapter of Timber Ridge Longhorns unfold.
This was a Fourth of July we'll never forget.
Welcome home, Silent Picker.
