Black sapote (Diospyros nigra) is a tropical evergreen tree known for its unique fruit, often called "chocolate pudding fruit" due to its sweet, dark, pudding-like flesh when ripe, which tastes similar to chocolate custard. The tree features glossy, dark green leaves and produces fruit that starts green and ripens to a dark brown, with an inedible skin and a pulp that is white and astringent when unripe but turns dark and creamy when mature. It thrives in warm, frost-free climates (USDA zones 10-11) and is prized for its ornamental value and edible, healthy dessert fruit. (Internet)

Our young Kaimana Lychee is flowering and fruiting. We look forward to harvesting the fruit later this summer.

The Kaimana lychee is a premium, large, heart-shaped, and exceptionally sweet cultivar developed in Hawaii, known for its small seed and bright red skin. Named to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Hawaii Agricultural Experiment Station, it is a popular, high-quality variety often preferred for fresh eating and grown commercially in Hawaii. Jaboticaba (aka Brazilian grape) is providing a second yield this year.

Jabuticaba (Plinia cauliflora) is a unique Brazilian tree known for its grape-like berries that grow directly on the trunk and branches, a phenomenon called cauliflory. The fruit has a sweet, gelatinous pulp and is eaten fresh, or made into jams, wines, and desserts, though it ferments quickly. (Internet)

UBE season Nui Farm

Ube, is a vibrant purple root vegetable from the Philippines known for its sweet, nutty, vanilla-like flavor and striking color, making it a popular ingredient in desserts like ice cream, cookies, and halo-halo. It's a starchy tuber with a dense texture, rich in antioxidants, fiber, and carbohydrates, and is distinct from purple sweet potatoes, though often confused with them. Ube is used in both sweet and savory dishes and is available fresh, frozen, powdered, or as an extract.
