I went through the field this afternoon to capture the flower growth and YALL, look at all the BEAUTIFUL colors beginning to peep through! 🌸

Lord willing, the field will be open for upick in late August/September (and hopefully the weather will be a bit cooler too)!

It’s been so long since I’ve picked a fresh, butterfly-kissed bouquet of flowers to display on the kitchen counter.

Certainly helps to distract from the pile of dirty dishes in the sink! 😉

“Why is this happening to me?” If you’ve ever had this thought, it’s a great indication that you’re human.

We get frustrated when things seemingly go wrong or don’t play out the way we wanted.

But what if you change your thinking to, “This is happening for me.”

The challenge you’re going through could be happening for: your growth, preparation for something greater, to bring you closer to God, a chance to show others what it looks like to face hard times with a positive attitude.

It’s ok if we don’t know why things happen the way they do.

Why they don’t turn out as planned or why something was taken away.

Trust that God loves you and has a plan for your life!

Back in December, I placed an online order for a surprise box of chicks…🐥

And TODAY, I got the call that they were ready for pickup from the post office!!

If you can think of any cute chicken names, drop them below! I’ve been blessed with 24 sweet babies to name! ❤️

They say a watched pot never boils. And this can seem true about plant growth as well as other aspects of life.

When I check the field for progress, it can appear nothing is happening.

But I know that growth is brewing beneath the surface.

Good things take time.

Maybe you’re working towards a goal in your own life: healthier life style, stronger relationship, education, building a business or dream home - the list goes on.

Some days, progress may seem slow. Like you’ll never get there. But keep putting in the work.

Success does not happen overnight.

Choose to feel gratitude towards each day and celebrate the small wins.

It’s the small, daily wins that lead to the big accomplishments. Keep at it, friend!

P.S. The zinnia seedlings are tiny on the farm right now but I’m excited for their beauty when they fully mature - all in God’s time!

I think Forrest Gump said it best about the rain we’ve gotten this week.

“We’ve been through every kind of rain there is. Little bitty stingin’ rain…and big ol’ fat rain. Rain that flew in sideways. And sometimes rain even seemed to come straight up from underneath.”

WHEW, have we gotten some rain!

I even have a new water gulley through the middle of the flower field. 😅

On the bright side, I’m thankful I haven’t had to water the plants and also thankful that plant damage has been minimal.

Looking forward to sunny skies…and beautiful blooms!

You can bear crawl down 100 ft rows planting seeds or join the gym. Either way, you’ll get a workout! 😂

This week on the farm, I’ve planted: cheery zinnias, dainty cosmos, and my FAVORITE sunflower variety: ProCut Gold Lite! 🌻

Do you wish someone would just tell you what the best, no stress flowers are?

I’m a DIY kinda girl. To the point that if I look at something, I think, “I wonder how I could make that?”

And sometimes, I bite off more than I can chew. 😅

The flower farm’s barn build has challenged me both mentally and physically (and it’s not finished yet)!

I’ve learned a lot so far…

Like calling a concrete company to figure out what thickness, mix and amount I’d need for the foundation.

Getting in touch with a weld shop to make custom brackets and plates for the beams.

Asking around to source a local sawmill since you can’t just buy a 6x10x20 ft piece of lumber at Lowe’s.

And one I’m still working on - calming my mind when things don’t go as planned or happen as quickly as I want it to.

I don’t know about you, but worrying about the next steps or what could go wrong doesn’t make anything better.

Here’s what does help:

Taking a breath. Making a plan. Focusing on what you can do today.

I can’t wait to see string lights strung from beam to beam.

To hear good music gently rolling from the barn doors.

And Lord willing, have people gather together on the farm enjoying the countryside.

Til then, I’ll keep working along, trying to focus on the things I can control in the day I’ve been given!

Allow me to introduce to you, my unofficially, official farm hand (and sister 😄) - Andi!

The past few weeks, she’s helped me burn over 1,000 holes, w**d eat the property line, plant seeds, and even cut down a tree!

A few things about Andi:

✨Deer hunting fanatic - this is what she designates her vacation days for. 🦌

✨Mechanic of the fam - changes her own oil in vehicles, installs radios, and more I don’t know the terminology for. 😅

✨Walking jukebox - she can name most any song from way back to current. 🎶

✨Facebook Marketplace shopper - always looking for the next deal on wheels. 🚑

She’s a hard worker and sweet sister. I’m so thankful for her!
