We’re all done with lambing season. It was uneventful other than having to pull one as a bottle lamb. He leaves the pasture and comes to the back door for bottles. He’s good friends with Silas who has named him Bout.

She’s doing a great job of learning the farm routine with help from the other dogs: no chasing chickens, it’s essential to help with every step of chores, you won’t get to sleep in bed if you roll in anything stinky, and it’s ok to watch the sheep but if one stamps her foot back up 5 feet.

Perennial crops are the backbone of any good garden … this sunchoke havest was abundant and ready long before any annuals are in the ground. We’re also enjoying catch-and-release season for inland waters trout, painting gourds gathered from last year’s garden, and looking for (and cleaning up) lures, weights, and line that can still be used by the Genoa dam.
