☀️Saturday is for picnic baskets, gingham blankets, and the kind of slow afternoon that doesn't ask anything of you. 🧺

It's National Picnic Week — and there's almost nothing more picnic-perfect than a few hard-boiled farm eggs, a little salt in a twist of waxed paper, ripe strawberries, and a thermos of sweet tea. We packed one this morning to take down to the creek.

Tomorrow is Father's Day. Tomorrow is also the summer solstice — the longest, brightest day of the year. May you spend it with the people who matter, eating something simple, on a blanket, under a tree.🥰

🤍 Today is Juneteenth. 🤍
On June 19, 1865 — two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed — Union soldiers reached Galveston, Texas, and the last enslaved Americans learned they were free. Today we remember that delayed-but-arriving freedom, and the men and women who walked into a new day not knowing where the next meal would come from but knowing they were their own.

"He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" — Micah 6:8

✨🥚The Father's Day porch run is rolling. 🚚🤍

Across Lancaster this morning, our cartons are landing on porches with a note tucked in: "For Dad." Some of these are surprises. Some are the same standing order Mom has placed every other Thursday for a year. All of them carry a little weight today.
