My family and I spent this past weekend at Graves Mountain Apple Festival in beautiful Syria, Virginia. We were there trying to get the word out about a nationwide contest our kid's school, Madision County High School is in to win $1 million for a new football field, weight room and more. You see our kids are 8 and 10 and they both participate in flag football put together by our county Parks and Rec. Every Summer around the end of June my boys participate in the Madison Youth Football Camp that is held at our High School's football field, the Eddie Dean Field. There they get to work with coaches and High School students to learn what hard work and determination it takes to play this grueling sport. Head coach Larry Helmick, along with many individuals involved in the football program put this on for the kids. They work so hard to make this happen for them with music and snacks everyday. Someone cuts up watermelons for hours for them to have at the end of the night. They even have the fire company come out on the last day to spray the kids with the fire hose. It's always for the kids and we know that here in Madison it will always be that way. So please help us out. All we need are votes to win this.
