At least one of us likes fixing flood gaps after a big rain. 🌦️

(Actually no one complained on this one — a pretty little spring, freshened up as we head for cooler temps.)

The spring calves are coming to town!

JC Livestock Sales Special Calf Sale is this Monday, October 5. We’re excited to see the calf crops from these great producers — top genetics, abundant grass, excellent management should make for calves that pay at every step along the way.

Sale starts at 6:30 pm, with a complimentary meal before sponsored by Rawhide Portable Corrals.

Live online at Cattle USA.

Special Calf Sale number one coming up Monday October 5th at JC Livestock Sales! Be sure to join us for a nice run of calves at 6:30! Big thank you to John and Mary McDonald with Rawhide Portable Corrals for sponsoring the meal before the sale!

We’re selling 30 spring and fall bred cows at JC Livestock Sales in Junction City on Wednesday, August 19. Running ages 3 years and up. All bred to Lyons Ranch Angus herdsires with high growth and maternal, good carcass traits.

Including a nice set of 7 head 4 & 5 year old Angus cross commercial females we used as fall recipients.

Around 20 fall and spring cows, purebred, sell without papers but handled just like our registered herd.

We’ve done this for several years—been a nice way for us to save back heifers and keep our numbers right.

We’ll post some videos after hauling and preg check on Tuesday!

We’ve been pulling fall calves and leaving the cows on grass. Bulls are vaccinated, poured, freeze branded. We spray regularly for flies, which pick up this time of years as the yearlings start to move. Rain made hay crop later but grass and water seem to make everyone happier — bovine and humankind!

We are still planning on penning the sale cattle and putting them on display this afternoon by 3 pm! The weather has tricked us a bit, but it's all a go! We will have Smokin Wille's BBQ around 5:15 pm.

Our friends and followers know that we won't sell our cattle in the catalog order tomorrow, Monday, March 2nd, so here is the tentative sale order.

Check our website https://lyonsranch.com for any updates or changes to the sale order. We would love to have you in the seats but if you can't make it the sale is on DV Auction starting at 12:30 p.m.
