Last night the girls were arguing over who got to be the first taster of the apple cider slushie. 😂 Jokes on them… it’s going to be Tom!

But it made me think of this photo I snapped of Farmer Baby a week or so ago, picking her first apple of the season. 🍎 There’s something pretty special about getting to see the start of fall through their eyes 😍

And now it’s time to share it with all of you — opening day is here!

If you’re coming out to see us, note that traffic flow into the orchard is changing this year. You’ll now enter from the gravel side, so please follow the posted signs when you arrive!

Year after year, Honeycrisp still reigns as one of our customers’ favorite apples! 🍎

When Farmer Baby first moved here, she would pretend to answer the phone saying, “No cider, yes Honeycrisp!” 😂 About 90% of our calls tend to ask about one of those two things, and she had heard us say it so many times that it became her go-to answer. And honestly… not much has changed!

Our Honeycrisp may not be the prettiest apples on the tree this year — they endured a few kisses from Lady Frost — but they’re here, they’re crisp, they’re delicious, and they’re ready to be picked!

Opening Day is tomorrow, Saturday! Reminder - Traffic flow into the orchard is changing this year so please follow the signs!

🍎 If it’s almost Opening Day, the Galas must be ready! 🍎

These sweet, red apples are a favorite for all ages — but especially the kids (Farmer Baby & Apple Baby included 😉).

Saturday is Opening Day! A couple of notes before you head our way:

👉 This week, we’re not open Friday — that to-do list is always a little too long to make that happen 😂

🍎 We’re doing things a little differently this year! 🍎

With our crop being down, we’ll have limited U-Pick this season. Here’s what that means for you:

☝️ You can plan ahead! Our U-Pick dates are set (as long as Mother Nature continues to cooperate 🤞), so you’ll know when and which varieties are available for upick this year.

✌️ U-Pick bags will be limited to 5 lbs. This gives everyone a chance to enjoy the experience while we work with a smaller crop.

🤟 Some weekends will have U-Pick on Saturday only — and some may have no U-Pick at all. Be sure to check our calendar before you come! But don’t worry, bagged apples will be available in the farm shop all weekend during our normal hours.

🍎 Opening Day - Saturday Aug 29th 🍎

Mother Nature always likes to keep things interesting in farming, and no two seasons are alike! This year our crop is down, which means U-Pick is going to look a little different than it has in the past.

We’ll be evaluating the crop throughout the season, and this year we’ll have several “Saturday Only” U-Picks for select varieties. First of which is on opening day with Honeycrisp! 🍎

As we get closer to opening day, we’ll share a tentative U-Pick schedule and keep it updated throughout the season as we see how each variety is progressing.

We can’t wait to get the season started and see you back at the orchard! 🌳🍎

The deer are certainly enjoying all the downed trees—and the fences that came down with them! Our orchard is usually u-pick not deer-pick!

We’re feeling incredibly fortunate that the storm spared our homes and buildings, especially knowing many of our neighbors weren’t as lucky.

Let the cleanup begin!

You know apple season is just around the corner when the first of the summer apples get picked! Pristines are similar to an early transparent or Lodi apple! Mildly tart and make a wonderfully smooth apple sauce.

These apples tend to show up when lots is going on around the orchard so just selling by appointment only. Send us a message with how many you want and we’ll schedule a time to pick up!

Wow, consider us blessed to say we have more friends than peaches! Sold out of this variety! We will probably have another light picking of our next variety in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned 🍑

We keep calling this year a “friends and family” crop of peaches…good thing we consider all of you our friends 😉 🍑

We finally have enough to share - at least today we do! Open today, Monday 7/6, from 4-6pm at the farm!

New Golden Russet trees 🌳

We’ve been really leaning into the orchard side of our orchard-based cider lately. 🍎🌳

With last year’s harvest kegged and waiting for you, our focus has shifted to the next generation of trees. It’s always surprising how many times we touch these trees before they ever bear fruit. These new Golden Russet trees have already been planted, supported with new infrastructure, topped off with soil, had their blooms removed (more than once!), and fertilized. And that’s only the start of their journey before they eventually find their way into a cider blend a few years down the road.

It’s a lot of work but good cider is worth the wait 🍻
