#010. She is a micro mini! She will be turning four years old this fall. She is so tiny, tame will eat out of your hand. I personally think she is too small to breed. If someone is just looking for a tiny little pet, pasture mate, perfect for a petting zoo set up she would be perfect! It’s hard to comprehend how small she is, but you can see her next to this gate, our fences are 4 feet tall. I would estimate she only weighs 350 to 400 pounds at the most.

We had our first heifer calf today out of Cliff! She is exactly what we’ve been working hard to get when we started this “little cow” venture!

Tiny, lots of hair, silver color, heifer calf! To put her size in perspective this Cow, who looks quite large next to her, is only 44 inches tall!

This is the fourth calf out of this cow. She has one of our originals and every one has been top notch but this first meeting to Cliff is by far the best!!

She definitely did not pick an ideal day with 30° and rain, but we’ve got her moved into a warm dry spot now! We will take more pictures when the sun comes out!

We had our first mini calf of 2026 yesterday! And it was a big deal for us as this is the first calf out of Cliff out silver Highlander bull who took a little while to prove to us he was able to get one bred!! According to our vet check, he got several covered this past summer!

I rarely go down the path of negativity but after watching a particular Sunday evening cow sale, I really felt something needed to be said. It left me wondering what the heck is going on and really hoping people were reading the descriptions and asking question’s. I was amused, I was shocked , I was annoyed , I was disgusted and most of all I was sad for the animals involved and the unsuspecting buyers involved.

The further I got into reading the descriptions, the worse it got. Apparently we have SUPER micros now! And for the love of God, please learn how to spell CONFORMATION. With all the fancy verbiage, you’d think the word conformation would be spelled and or used correctly.
Lots of non chondro animals being listed as MICROS - these animals will not mature under 36 inches at maturity. And I feel sorry for who ever ended up buying these non chondro animals thinking they will mature at 36 inches and under.

Then we have a donor cow who is being " phased out" of the program because they are moving to new genetics! She is a donor cow!!!! Her genetics are not apart of the calves being grown, she is a warm body growing a calf. Quote “ She is bred to said bull, but not guaranteed bred but 4.5 - 7 months exposed, appears heavy bred “ - guess they didn’t have time to preg check her 🤦‍♀️ Really? This cow has been flushed continuously and consistently over the last 3 years, so do you really think she is bred and that they would sell a bred cow ? Someone got hosed for $9,500 bucks.

The worst and most disgusting part of it all is that its NEVER MENTIONED in all the fancy descriptions is the embryos are CHONDRO to CHONDRO. How many BULL DOG calves are coming due with these breedings? Do people who bought these embryos even realize this? It made me sick to my stomach as I watched the shenanigans continue to take place. The most comical part is this statement made by the individuals “ a sustainable approach emphasizing safe breeding “. There is nothing safe or sustainable about breeding chondro to chondro period. It’s revolting and it’s unethical to set a calf up to have a 50% chance of being aborted at 5-6 months of gestation and or born dead. It’s that simple.

There are way too many ethical breeders in the Industry to support such unethical practices.
