Whew, what a week!! We just got back from an awesome mini trip to Holmes County, OH for the 2nd annual Food Independence Summit. To say we can away encouraged, inspired, and a bit tired is an understatement! 😅 I highly recommend the summit to anyone who has an interest in a home-based business and homestead.

The Perfect Man just got a makeover!! Decided it was time for a bit more oomph, so we used the same color scheme (with the addition of gray) and I chose a cool drop swirl for the main design. Can't wait to see the cut!

Has it really been 18 months since my last post?! 😳 while I'm sorry that I've been absent for the sake of the business, I'm also incredibly grateful to have spent the last year and a half absorbing wonderful family time and enjoying our life on the farm. That, my friends, is priceless!
We are seeking God's direction in our camel dairy as we look to the future. In 2019, we had a wonderfully full year of tours and extra help in maintaining orders and inventory. Then, of course 2020 was the year that changed the world. All of our tours cancelled and extra help went away. Meanwhile, our other business grew by leaps and bounds, and has continued to do so, leaving us with little time to maintain soapmaking and tours.
I humbly ask that you bear with us during this time, as we make decision on what the next steps ought to be. Don't hesitate to reach out with questions or requests for specific soaps! We are continuing to make small batches as time permits! 😁 Thank you all for your support!!

Merry Christmas, everyone!! We trust you all enjoyed blessed time with family and friends as we celebrate the birth of our Savior! The Lord granted us an extra blessing this year, with the birth of our third child in September, Victoria Faith. What a joy! We also hope to celebrate the birth of four new camel babies in April/May 2022, Lord willing!

This post is one that I've been putting off for over a week now. It's hard to believe that a halter, a lock of hair, and her beloved son Jericho is all we have left of our dear Desi. On March 18th, we had to make the hardest decision ever to put our sweet girl down after 2 days at MSU. Desi suffered a broken neck and there was nothing we could do, though we gave it everything we could. The tears have been heavy and hard - man, we loved this girl!! You couldn't help but admire her size, strength, intelligence, and steadiness. We will miss you dearly, Desi!!! 😢

Spent some time in the soap room today restocking some favorites!! The Perfect Man, Navigator, and Classic Spice Shave Soap are now made and resting up in the freezer overnight before moving to the refrigerator. After that, they spend a day at room temperature prior to cutting and curing. It's a process, but well worth it!!

Last week, we began training Jericho to pull a cart! Our awesome camel trainer, Jason, was so patient with him and Jericho was a real trooper! Both Luke and I were working him from behind by the third day and he was such a good boy! Can't wait to see what's in store for the future!

Ramsey turns 1 month old today! Built like a tank with a personality to match. We spent some time walking around, learning to lead without throwing a tantrum, and he even volunteered to hang out on our front porch!!

Boaz was actually one of the top names we were considering when naming Ramsey, but it just didn't quite fit him. We feel it fits our new little guy perfectly! Meaning "by strength", it is the Biblical name of Ruth's second husband, after her first husband died. Boaz was a well-respected man, full of grace, self-control, wisdom, and yes, strength, as He relied on God and raised a family that honored the Lord. Thank you all for the WONDERFUL name suggestions! Y'all were great!! :D

Ramsey's first day outside the barn

Because of a very long, exhausting (and beautiful!) day of work around the farm --- which included giving Ramsey aka Wild Child a bath and training on some manners --- we will postpone the name reveal until tomorrow!! Frankly, our brains are fried and we want to make sure we are fully "there" before we make a final decision!! 😂 So you have another day to get more names in and a chance to WIN a sweatshirt and a bar of camel milk soap! Guess who decided to show up!!! Born yesterday morning, 2 weeks before his due date and not lacking in intelligence or spirit! This little guy (around 50lbs) is as precious as can be and is off to a great start!

Due to the phases of re-opening for the state, we need to reschedule our annual Open House. We are hoping for mid-late July, but this will obviously depend on the rules and regulations of the state. We will keep everyone updated!
On a lighter note, we have a confirmed pregnancy for Ginger!! She will be due late March 2021!

First official milking for Desi since Ramsey was born! Desi has never tolerated the bucket milker in the past, so this year we made some changes to the system, which included keeping the pump in another room so that the noise wouldn't bother her. Today, she not only tolerated it, she did fabulous and was very content! A great start to a year-long routine for all of us! Can't wait to see what we will create with this milk! (Our milk is only used in products - not sold as is)

It's the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! On Wednesday (perfect, right?) at 12:15pm, our little camel calf made his entrance into the world. It's been a long 13 months of waiting, but we are so happy to introduce Ramsey to our River Jordan Camel Dairy community! The birth was quick and uneventful and Desi is in full mother mode. Ramsey is already jumping around and displaying a sweet, yet mischievous personality. :)

Well, its official!! We are expecting not one, but TWO camel babies in the next few weeks! Both Desi (our big hybrid girl) and Daisy are about ready to pop! Last year, we had ultrasounds done on both girls but Daisy's ended up showing negative for pregnancy. We anticipate that perhaps we just had it done a little too early. Either way, we are thrilled and in high gear waiting for these little ones to arrive!
