Today was the final goodbye... the family had some setbacks and couldn't welcome Jericho and Jasmine home as soon as they had hoped, but today they were picked up. I don't know if the delay made it easier or harder on our family, but it did give us a chance for many little goodbyes during the last few weeks. And for that, I'm grateful. And I'm grateful for a good deal more: for teddy bear ears, for soft chuffs and grumbles, for peach fuzz noses, for "happy dances" in the pasture, for teaching our kids care and compassion beyond themselves, for all the joys and tears during the last 10 years. It's been a wild, wonderful ride. We sure love you, Jericho and Jasmine, and we will miss you. 🥹 💕🐪

When God speaks, you listen

Several thousand years ago, when God told Abraham to pack up his family and all his belongings and move to a land that He would show him, Abraham didn't hesitate - he moved. He didn't have a road map or the promise of something better on the other side, or even that the traveling would be easy. In fact, I'm sure that it was very difficult to leave all that was familiar to him and his family. But he went. Because God told him to and he had faith that God's ultimate plan was good.
For a while now, we have have heard God softly speaking to us, urging us to let go of something precious to us. Something we love dearly, but simply hasn't been our main priority during this stage in our family's growth. During the last several weeks, we have experienced God's loving hand moving in our lives in a way that is unmistakable- and gracious in a way that is "above and beyond what we could ever ask or think". And yet change is hard. We have to choose faith daily, knowing that our good God has an ultimate plan that is... GOOD. And we continue to hear God speak, "it's time to let the camels go." But Jericho is so very special!! He is the most soulful camel we have ever had the pleasure of owning. "It's time." But sweet Jasmine was born on our farm. The kids have all grown up with them. "It's time." And then, as if Jesus has experienced all the same human turmoil, mental anguish over decisions, and difficulty in facing what he knew was the best path (which of course He has), He chose to step in and place on the heart of a southern missionary to give us a call- asking if we had camels for sale. Really, God? We hear you. And we will walk this path, praising You for your gentle kindness with us over this change. It's hard. Our camels have been such a huge part of our lives and our farm. Many tears have been shed and will continue for a while I suspect. But what we see even through the blur of tears, is a road marked so clearly with His love and His vision for our life's story. It reminds me of rose petals gently sprinkled in trail, leading to a beautiful room where a loved one awaits. Who would consider not following those petals? Not me. I'm ready to see where they lead.
So next week our dear Jericho and Jasmine will set off on a new adventure and we trust that they will be an incredible part of someone else's story in Alabama. They have added a beautiful richness to the chapters of our story for the past 9 years. As we quietly turn the page, we want to thank everyone for their support and encouragement during this time. And we thank our Lord, for showing such grace and love towards us and our relationship with these amazing animals that He created. They are truly one of a kind and we care so deeply about them. Man, this is hard. Please bear with us. We may be weepy for a while.
- Luke and Amber, the camel people

We will be hosting an informal open house on Saturday from 2-4pm for those who would like to say a farewell to our camels, Jericho and Jasmine. For now, we will continue the camel milk soaps, lotions, and products.

Yesterday, we welcomed this beautiful bay filly, and we couldn't be more excited about her future!

She is out of our gorgeous blue roan mare, Schatzie, and by Metallic Berry, a striking red roan son of the legendary Metallic Cat. Metallic Cat earned over $637,000 in competition and became one of the most influential cutting horse sires in history, producing countless champions and earning millions through his offspring. His athleticism, cow sense, intelligence, and trainability have made his bloodlines highly sought after across multiple performance horse disciplines.

This sweet filly combines Schatzie's beauty and wonderful disposition with the proven talent and athletic genetics of one of the most recognized names in the Quarter Horse industry. We can't wait to watch her grow and see what the future holds!

Welcome to the farm, little girl. 💕🐴

Spring on the farm has been FULL of projects around here at River Jordan Camel Dairy!

We’ve been busy moving pasture fences, relocating the garden and chicken shed/run, freshening things up with new flower beds, and trying to stay one step ahead of the chaos. 😅

Of course… the camels noticed the temporarily relaxed fencing situation and decided some of our trees looked like an excellent snack bar. 🌳🐪😂

We’re also incredibly thankful for our little crew of helpers. The kids have been working hard right alongside us and making a lot of memories in the process. ❤️

All of this hard work is helping us gear up for a fun Tour Event coming in June! We can’t wait to welcome everyone back out to the farm for camels, fresh air, soap shopping, and a beautiful summer day together.

Stay tuned — more details coming soon! 🐪
