Fun fact Friday! Sheep!

🐑Sheep have rectangular pupils that give them a panoramic field of vision between 300 and 290 degrees. This allows them to see almost entirely around themselves—including behind their bodies—without turning their heads.

🐑Built-in horizon lock: When a sheep lowers its head to graze, its eyes rotate in their sockets, so that the rectangular slit pupils remain parallel to the ground. This ensures they maintain a wide view of the horizon for approaching predators while eating.

🐑Facial recognition: Sheep can recognize and remember at least 50 individual human and sheep faces for up to two years.

🐑Self-medication: When feeling unwell, sheep seek out specific plants and herbs they wouldn't normally eat to treat their own ailments.
