We started raising pigs in 1949 with a 4-H project by a Nicollet County teenager, Richard Compart. Since that time, our family has been adopters of science-based technology to make genetic advancements in growth rate, leanness, feed efficiency and intramuscular fat/marbling. Then 20 years of ultrasound work for intramuscular fat has helped us produce a Duroc pig that can produce meat far different from other Duroc pigs. Fall harvest has finally begun. We have experienced continuous rain the past two weeks and now both corn and soybeans are ready to go. For the next month our days will be filled with “all things harvest”, plus manure hauling to fertilize fields for next year, as well as the regular hog production work. Stay safe!

When you believe in something you support it, carrying on generations of traditions. That's why we support 4-H, our county fair and the Minnesota State Fair. After all, Compart's Boar Store started after a young girl showing Hamps met a young boy showing Durocs at the Minnesota State Fair 4-H swine show in 1952!

We are so proud to partner with South Central MN Food Recovery in Mankato!

Earlier this week, we were able to to donate 337 pound of meat to support their incredible mission!

Sharing good food is one of the best ways to bring people together, and we are grateful for the opportunity to help put delicious,

Channel Fest 2026 was a huge gathering in Nicollet tonight. With an anticipated crowd of 2,800 people, we cut up Compart Duroc chops, the Nicollet Co Pork Producers had 3 grills cooking and got the crowd fed. Fun event!

Today we celebrated the Open House of the NDSU swine unit addition at Fargo, ND. Dean had a productive meeting with Megan Kavanaugh, the swine unit manager. NDSU is a valued Compart semen customer.
