Today is officially the last day of summer. 🌻 This photo captures that perfectly, I think. Thank you Courtney | Ohio Family Photographer.

Cheers to another {crazy} summer season down & a cozy, relaxing fall 🤎🍂

Every time I have a pretty photo to post, I can’t think of a caption to go with it. So here’s what I’ve been up to this weekend…

• Tore out all the bird gourds growing on our trellis. I was tired of trying to keep them alive after all the rain, they didn’t do well. I harvested the gourds & will attempt to dry them out in a cool, dark place.
• Painted our farm sign stand out front. It looks SO much better painted. I added a spotlight for night time & I still have to adjust the post a bit and w**d eat down there today ☑️
• Harvested flowers to dry out.
• Went thrifting & spent some time with family at Indian Lake.

I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend & start to September 🌞🍂

📸 : Dahlias “Agape Joy” variety (Thanks, Pete).

There are two studies that are quite well known in the flower farming world. One is out of Harvard Medical School (Dr. Nancy Etcoff) and the other from Rutgers University (Dr. Jeannette Haviland-Jones). If you haven’t heard of them, they’re worth looking into… because together, they explain why flowers are never "just flowers."

Dr. Etcoff’s research focuses on how flowers make you feel... less anxious, more compassionate, more energized. Dr. Haviland-Jones looks at what happens when you give flowers... how it creates deeper connection and even signals emotional awareness and thoughtfulness.

Never just flowers.

Whether you pick up a bouquet for yourself at the farmers market, gift someone you love a bouquet subscription, grow your own from seed, or visit a flower farm… you’re actually doing something that improves your emotional intelligence and connection to others.

5 years ago, I went down that rabbit hole and now I own and operate my own flower farm. I’m not saying you need to go THAT far… but I do think everyone should experience it in some way.

Our 💐 Summer Bloom Club 💐 was made for anyone who understands the deeper connection that flowers give.

Not to mention- Mother’s Day is coming up (May 10th!), this can be one of those gifts that keeps on giving, all summer long.
