I can’t imagine a more meaningful way to end our vacation than learning to weave a lei poʻo - a traditional Hawaiian flower crown, symbolic of our connection to the land, nature and one another.

One of my favorite travel traditions is creating a bouquet from the local flowers growing wherever I happen to be. Needless to say, this may be the most beautiful vacation bouquet I’ve ever made.

Floriography Friday: Feverfew symbolizes healing, protection, and resilience. Named for its long history in herbal medicine, it was once used to treat fevers and headaches. Its cheerful blooms serve as a reminder that healing takes time, and that resilience often grows quietly. 💛

I didn’t grow these flowers, but I wish I could. The beauty nature creates around the world never ceases to amaze me.

A hundred tiny blooms, one simple bouquet, and somehow it feels like magic. Feverfew will always be one of my faves.

As I prepare to sneak away for a week with my mom and sister, the garden is in very good hands. This morning my sweet husband is making all of our flower deliveries, then heading out to tackle watering, weeding, fertilizing, and all the countless little jobs that keep our garden thriving.

Fresh flowers don’t take vacations, and I’m thankful every day for my husband, who has believed in this dream from the beginning and does so much to help make it possible. 💛

It’s hard to believe this little plant is already planning for next summer.

This baby dahlia started as a seed a few months ago, and if you look closely in my hand, you’ll notice it’s already forming its first tiny tuber.

In a few short months, that tiny tuber will have grown into a cluster of many more. What starts as a seed becomes flowers, and what grows beneath the soil becomes next year’s garden.

Nature is pretty magical.

Sometimes harvesting takes me much longer than it should because I can’t help stopping to enjoy the bumblebees.
