We are a Boutique winery on Seneca Lake, New York, that specializes in Sparkling Wines done in the same style as Champagne, and a more ancient style called Petillant Naturel. We are also specialists in dry, cool climate reds such as Pinot Noir, Dornfelder & Teroldego. Of course we produce beautiful Finger Lakes favorites such as Riesling & Blaufrankish. Red Tail Ridge utilizes sustainable practices in their wine growing process; and is the first LEED gold certified winery in New York State. All heating and cooling for wine production is provided by geothermal energy. For security reasons, we are not able to accept stretch limos or vehicles that cannot fit in a regularly sized parking space from unauthorized driving services. Authorized Driving Partners can be found on our website, www.redtailridgewinery.com

Pets are welcome in outdoor spaces always and in a separate Tasting Room from the main Tasting Room with prior notice.

Sweater weather, roasting season, and a very good excuse to open a bottle of Dry Riesling.

Our 2024 Dry Riesling is particularly good company for the foods we’re craving this time of year. Think roasted pork with crispy edges, a beautifully browned chicken, smoked duck, or a generous wedge of Comté or Beaufort (because cheese season is absolutely upon us).

The w**e’s bright acidity is wonderful alongside richer dishes, while its ripe fruit, subtle spice, and lovely texture make it an easy match for all kinds of fall cooking.

And don’t forget the seafood! Oysters, clams, and mussels are all excellent companions for Dry Riesling. A platter of freshly shucked oysters and a chilled glass might just be one of our favorite pairings, whatever the season.

So, what’s going on your table alongside a bottle of RTR Dry Riesling? We’re always interested in a good pairing recommendation.

What does it take to make a great Dry Riesling? Sometimes, a little bit of everything.

We’re about two-thirds of the way through harvest, and Nancy and Meagz are out in the vineyard giving us a closer look at the Riesling grapes and why a little variation among the clusters is actually a very good thing.

This growing season has kept us on our toes, but some strategic leaf plucking helped improve airflow and manage botrytis. Now we’re seeing everything from bright green, crisp, higher-acid berries to softer, amber-colored fruit with more concentrated sweetness.

For Nancy and Meagz, those differences are exactly what make things interesting. Combining fruit at varying stages of ripeness brings a wonderful range of flavors, aromatics, and textures to the finished w**e. The trick is knowing what to pick, when to pick it, and how it all fits together.

And judging by how closely Nancy and Meagz are examining these grapes, you can probably guess how seriously we take our Riesling around here. **ery

Did you know you can taste your way through the entire sparkling w**e lineup at Red Tail Ridge? Because if you love bubbles, that’s a pretty good reason to plan a visit. 🥂

Sparkling w**e is a big part of what we do here, and we’ve spent years exploring just how much character, complexity and variety we can bring to every bottle.

And what better place to explore them than overlooking Seneca Lake, with a little time to linger and absolutely no need to choose just one favorite?

Round up your favorite w**e-loving people and come see what we’ve been working on. We think you’ll find plenty worth raising a glass to.

*Full sparkling w**e lineup tasting available April–December.

And if sparkling is your thing, you can taste through our entire sparkling w**e lineup while you’re here.* Yes, all of it.

So, who are you texting first?

Send this to the person you’d bring along, then come see us at Red Tail Ridge.

From the Finger Lakes to Napa Valley, our next W**e Atlas Collective partner highlight takes us to Frog’s Leap in Rutherford, California.

There’s plenty that connects Frog’s Leap and Red Tail Ridge, even with a few thousand miles between us. Both w**eries believe that how you care for the land matters, and that good w**e begins with thoughtful farming and a real sense of place. It’s part of what brought us together through the W**e Atlas Collective, a group of independent w**eries from some of the country’s most distinctive w**e regions.

For Red Tail Ridge w**e club members, that means your membership travels with you. If Napa Valley is on your itinerary, Frog’s Leap will welcome you to its historic, family-owned Red Barn w**ery in Rutherford, where Collective members can enjoy complimentary w**e tasting, tour the w**ery, wander through the organic edible gardens and orchards, and have access to exclusive experiences.

We love that being part of the Collective gives our members a reason to discover w**eries they may already know and a few they may not, while experiencing the different places, people, and w**es that make American w**e so interesting.

Planning some w**e travel of your own? Your Red Tail Ridge w**e club membership comes with benefits at all of our W**e Atlas Collective partner w**eries across the country. Learn more about the Collective and start plotting your next stop here: w**eatlascollective.com

So, what are you drinking this fall from Red Tail Ridge?

Maybe cooler weather has you reaching for the 2021 Lagrein, with its dark fruit, earth, herbs, and spice. Or perhaps it’s Rebel With a Cause: a blend of Teroldego, Lagrein, and Cabernet Franc that feels particularly at home once sweater weather arrives.

But we’re not ready to declare rosé season over. The new 2025 Pinot Dry Rosé brings strawberry, cranberry, crunchy plum, and plenty of freshness to the table.

And there is no off-season for sparkling. The 2020 Sparkling Rosé spent four years on the lees and gives Pinot Noir a beautifully complex, bubbly turn.

Those are a few ideas. Now we want yours.

If you were picking one Red Tail Ridge bottle to open on a perfect Finger Lakes fall evening, what would it be? Tell us in the comments, and if someone already named your bottle, consider this your chance to second the nomination. **ery

A few new bottles have officially joined the lineup at Red Tail Ridge, and one longtime favorite is getting ready to leave it.

First up, three new releases:

The 2025 Riesling Pétillant Naturel is made using the Méthode Ancestrale, with fermentation finishing in bottle to create a softer, gentler mousse. It’s unfined, unfiltered, and a very different expression of Riesling bubbles.

Our 2025 Sans Oak Blau Franc Blend brings together Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and Zweigelt, all fermented and aged in stainless steel. No oak here, just a fresh, direct expression of the fruit from our Estate vineyard.

And Perpétuelle Change Cuvée #6 continues a project that changes a little every year. This newest release brings together w**es from six vintages, 2018 through 2024, using our continually replenished reserve w**e as its foundation.

Then there’s the bottle we’re saying goodbye to: 2020 Blanc de Blanc. Made entirely from Chardonnay and given nearly four years in tirage before disgorgement began in 2025, it’s showing preserved lemon, quince, creamy minerality and a silky, persistent mousse. We’re down to the last of this vintage, so once these bottles are gone, that’s it for the 2020.

All four are available now. Which one are you opening first? **ery

October’s featured w**e: 2024 Dry Riesling.

There’s a lot happening in this bottle, and it’s the kind of Riesling that rewards paying attention. Candied ginger and jasmine on the nose give way to ripe peach, navel orange, green mango and lime pith, with green cardamom and juniper adding a little intrigue. The texture starts supple, then tightens into a long, focused finish.

The 2024 growing season gave us beautifully ripened fruit, and this Riesling was the first picked for our still w**es. It was fermented with indigenous yeast and aged on full lees in older, large-format puncheons, adding texture and palate weight without compromising on the ethereal personality and exotic nature of Finger Lakes Riesling.

And with October officially here, it feels like a particularly good bottle to have around. There’s enough ripe fruit for the cooler days ahead, with all that freshness still firmly intact.

We’re heading to Rochester for dinner, and Good Luck is setting the table!

On Thursday, October 29, we’ll be joining the team at Restaurant Good Luck for an evening built around the things both of our kitchens and the RTR cellar care deeply about: seasonality, agriculture, a sense of place, and a willingness to venture beyond the expected.

Since opening in 2008 in Rochester’s Neighborhood of the Arts, Good Luck has made its name with boldly seasonal cooking, inventive cocktails, and a w**e program that isn’t afraid to challenge convention. That makes it a particularly good match for Red Tail Ridge.

Chef Dan Martello and the Good Luck culinary team are creating a five-course dinner paired with five Red Tail Ridge w**es, with Nancy joining the evening to pour and talk w**e. Expect Finger Lakes favorites alongside a few of the varieties RTR has made a home for here, including Teroldego.

Dinner takes place in Good Luck’s Private Dining Room, with arrival beginning at 6 PM and dinner at 6:30.

Thursday, October 29 | Good Luck, Rochester
Five courses + five paired w**es

We’d love to see some familiar Red Tail Ridge faces around the table in Rochester. Details and tickets here: https://www.exploretock.com/goodluck/event/625076/ethos-and-ethics-a-red-tail-ridge-w**e-dinner
