The Learning Garden Laboratory (LGL) sits on a 12-acre garden education site located in Southeast Portland that provides K-12, university students and community members hands-on and place-based education in sustainable gardening, healthy nutrition, and permaculture. Education at LGL supports improved academic achievement, leadership development, and the development of sustainable local food system

Work Party + Community Harvest Saturday, August 29th at LGL! Be in community with us, give back to the land & enjoy a community Potluck 🧡 We’ll be making a big community salad with the produce we harvest. Bring a dish to share if you’re able!

All Work Parties at LGL start with an opening circle of movement, breath, reflection & introductions. After that, we’ll get started on some projects throughout the site. We will have activities & projects for all accessibility needs. We’ll have tools, gloves, tunes, and good vibes.

We’ll do land work until 1ish and then have a communal potluck lunch together from 1 to 2pm 🥗🫜🥕🍅

🥬🍅💐Harvest Share CSA boxes are live for next week! Pickup on Wednesday, August 26th 4-6pm

We are offering small shares for $25.00 (feeds 1-2 people) and large shares for $45 (feeds 3-4 people). We are also excited to offer a small ($15) or large ($25) floral bouquet add-on to Harvest Share orders.

*All proceeds from LGL Harvest Share sales go directly to the Learning Gardens Lab and allow us to purchase supplies and fund staff positions while supporting garden-based education and local, sustainable food production. In addition to the Harvest Shares LGL is offering this season, we donate an abundance of produce to the Smallwood PSU Food Pantry, Lane Food Pantries, and Urban Gleaners.

We are excited to offer weekly harvest shares to our community during the 2026 growing season 🍅🥬 Each share will include a selection of veggies and herbs grown and harvested with love at Learning Gardens Lab in southeast Portland. The share reflects what is available in our gardens throughout the season and changes weekly. As the photo suggests, there most likely will be figs in this week’s share!

We’re offering shares for $35.00 this week with an optional $15 or $25 bouquet add-on for pickup on August 19th 💐 You can place your order at lglpdx.eventbrite.com or through the link in our bio!

Online ordering closes Tuesday at 11 a.m., or when we sell out. On Wednesday morning, we’ll prepare the harvest and have shares ready for pickup at LGL from 4 pm to 6 pm on Wednesday, August 19th. When you come to pick up, look for us near the People’s Gate, just south of the parking lot next to Brentwood City Park.

*Please bring your own container(s). We’ll have your harvest share packaged in a sanitized tote ready for you to transfer to your basket, box, or reusable bags for the ride home.

We had the best day ever yesterday with The City Repair Project for the 2026 Village Building Convergence!! 🥦❤️🌻

Thank you so much to everyone that came out and was in community with us and to everyone at the City Repair Project for putting on such sweet and wonderful event. An extra special thank you to Nihiko for sharing miso that was made at past VBC’s and for guiding us through how to make miso ❤️ it was so special to learn and partake in the ancient & sacred practice of making miso, and to dance for the miso!!!!!!!
