Winter is coming, it's inevitable. Luce is going into winter in decent rig. Sometimes it's downright cold and miserable out there. For now we enjoy the chill of fall days and nights.

Georgia Pie. She and her brother in behind are 2025 foals. Both sired by Hunter. Only Connor received a Roan gene. I was hopeful that Georgia would be bay roan, but she was not. She did end up testing homozygous for Agouti, so that was cool. She also got herself a recessive red gene from her sire. The reason I like that is that Hunter's red gene comes from his red lineage. Seems like an odd thing to say as all horses that have a red gene, it had to come from somewhere, but there are only a couple horses still alive that are red or red carriers that go back to Lloyd Hanson's red breeding program. Lloyd got his start bringing in the red son of *Jason, Staynerville King. Decided he wanted to breed sorrel Percherons.

The only living stallion that is actually Chestnut from that lineage is standing with my sister Hattie at Madhatter Percherons out in Wyoming. Red is direct red on red lineage for generations.

There are still other Percherons that carry recessive red from other sources.

Georgia is the same exact breeding as Wesson. Full sisters, both bred to Hunter. Yet DNA is so fascinating in the differences. I've seen offspring from both mares sired by Hunters full brother, Hector. Full brothers, but they produce differently just enough.

Even in drought, good feed makes good horses and it is very costly. The addition of bills for the last 30 days was very eye opening.

Not cutting corners. These guys are well fed.

How many more pages of Registered Percherons would a person need to see before they realize the breed was never just Black & Grey.

One cannot discount Bay, Brown, Roan, Chestnut/Sorrel simply because it doesn't equal out to their own narrative. Too many folks standing on the Black and Grey box when people can pull out printed facts to disprove that idea.

This is important. One breed. The whole breed. Big and Small. All these colors. Registered, Blood typed, Recorded. Percheron draft horses. That's what I support.

And before you think, she doesn't like Black and Greys. Oh, but I do. I have 5 Grey mares on my lower pasture right now. The minorities needed someone to advocate, stand up when others stay quiet and just go along.
