In Texas, the interstate isn’t the only way… it’s just the biggest way. 🤠🌵☀️
There’s always that one friend who refuses to take I-35 or I-10 like those highways personally insulted their family— choosing backroads where:
• every tiny town has a BBQ joint with a line out the door 🍖
• Buc-ee’s somehow becomes a full-day event 🦫
• the air smells like mesquite smoke, dust, and incoming rain 🌩️
• and somebody’s grandpa will absolutely tell you where to find the “real” tacos 🌮
You won’t save time. You probably won’t avoid traffic. You may end up behind a cattle trailer, an oilfield truck, and a lifted pickup going 95 with three coolers in the back. 🚛💀
But out here, the point isn’t getting there fast— it’s rolling the windows down, watching the sun set over open ranchland, and letting Texas be Texas the whole way there. 🌅

This is what it looks like at Bar G Ranch when 84 year old Jeannette goes out on her Kubota checking for new Beefmaster babies. Shotgun on gun rack and a cassette player playing polka music on the seat… The green purse on the gun rack is full of more cassette tapes. 60 years in the Beefmaster breed for her is pretty awesome.

Summer Validation and Junior Nationals are approaching.

As you prepare, keep BBU DNA requirements and current turnaround times in mind.

• DNA testing turnaround: ~6 weeks
• Recommended submission deadline: April 15, 2026
• New DNA rule in place for E6 and Advancer show animals (JBBA & BPG)

Submitting early is strongly encouraged. Sample failures are unpredictable and may require resubmission, which can delay results.
