Santa Ynez Valley Therapeutic Riding Program

Equine assisted activities for adults and children with mental and/or physical challenges.

Our facility is a premium accredited member of PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International), and our horses have passed a strict safety rating based on the PATH system to provide the safest experience possible. The loving staff of our program consists of instructors certified by PATH and trained volunteers dedicated to enhancing the lives of the participants.

We are so excited to share that Susan and Rod Caughell have been selected as Champions of the Valley! ❤️🐴

A huge thank you to the Santa Ynez Valley Foundation for recognizing two people who truly represent what it means to serve your community.

Susan and Rod have volunteered with the Santa Ynez Valley Therapeutic Riding Program every Sunday for over 20 years, helping feed and care for our herd and doing the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our program going. For more than two decades, they have simply shown up, week after week, year after year.

Their dedication has even become a family tradition, with their daughters and grandchildren joining them over the years. Three generations of the Caughell family have given their time to our program!

Susan and Rod are the kind of volunteers every nonprofit dreams of having. They never ask for recognition, but after more than 20 years of service, we can’t think of two people more deserving of it.

Thank you, Santa Ynez Valley Foundation, for honoring Susan and Rod and for celebrating the volunteers who give so much to organizations throughout our Valley.

And Susan and Rod, from all of us at SYVTRP, thank you for every Sunday, every feeding, every mucked stall, and every year you have continued to show up for our horses and our program. We are so lucky to have you. ❤️
