Take two 🎬 14 days after our first mite treatment (I feel like we have northern fowl mites, red mites and lice we are battling this year 🤦‍♀️)... wanted to retreat at 10 days but ya'll know how hard it is to set aside time for this when we both have full time jobs .... ugh?!?! It's not even half our flock!!! Anyways we got the guineas (except one) and Homer's entire group ... close to 40 of them. Each soaked in dawn dish soap for a minute, rinsed, then dipped in the Elector PSP for at least 40 seconds. Now we did not do dawn with this group last time and I tell you what that dawn dish soap is a key to eradicating these little bastards!!! We still need to clean coops out again, burn everything and spray with Elector PSP again and lastly after it drys put more diatomaceous earth down. Now in the last two weeks I have not seen or found many mites!! Hooray!!! 👏 but have pour on Ivermectin as a last resort!!

🌱Plantain Tincture🌱

Plantain is a wild plant, that most people look at as a w**d. It grows in compact soil, it's all over our gravel driveway. Pick and collect a bowl full of leaves. Wash them real good, cut the stems, then set aside for a couple hours and let them air dry. Then chop them up and fill up a quart size jar 3/4th of the way. Fill the jar with 100 proof vodka just above the top of the leaves. Put a tight lid on and store in a dark room for 6 weeks. Shake once a day.

Plantain tincture can be used to enhance wound healing, and lower inflammation and topically soothes stings, bites, and cuts.

Plantain's anti-inflammatory properties may aid digestive issues like diarrhea, inflammatory bowel disease and bloating.

I am also going to take a stab at making a Plantain Salve 😊
