It's that time to start considering who stays and who goes.

Please keep in mind that Full Moon has worked to have a decent polled line for shetlands (no horns). Our boys will be smooth polled or very small scurs from what I can tell so far.

We do have a ewe lamb and a 2 yo ewe available this year. Sometimes boys are not allowed to go as intact rams because I know the temperament of the lines and do not wish to affiliate my name with bad boys ๐Ÿ™ƒ That being said, if you need a buddy to go with a ram lamb we can work out a great deal. Anakin is the only one so far I am dead set needs to go as a wether.

Here is what we have available this year...

Sad news: Curry, May's lamb, did not make it. 24 hours after birth she was lethargic and not standing up. Temp was fine, I attempted to milk the girls (hadn't started doing that yet) and by the time I had some colostrum from May, Curry's temp had dropped. We brought her inside to warm her up, but inevitably she went to the vet to see what they could do. They medicated her and Dr said her lungs did not sound good. Yesterday morning I got the call that her fever spiked and they tried everything to bring it down, but she did not make it.

Unfortunately, these things happen and wether it was something she was born with or she aspirated during birth and it festered, we just always try to do our best and understand the outcome is out of our hands.

Kabob is doing good and we have started milking now. It is earlier than I wanted to start milking May, but her supply is SO much I don't think Kabob can manage it on her own.

This pic is AFTER milking some from May ๐Ÿซฃ

May had a special delivery for us early this morning ๐Ÿ™Œ

Twin girls, Curry and Kabob, have brought our Lambapalooza to a close.

We ended up with 7 boy and 7 girls. Going to be hard to beat this year!

Trimmed and cleaned them up, made sure May passed her placenta and caught up on some collars. ๐Ÿ™‚

On May 31st this little guy joined us. His name is Jamie Fraser ๐Ÿ˜†

He has the Ag gene which means he is a color changing sheep. He will grey out as he gets older. He won't be this color long!

He is the final lamb of our oldest ewe, 12 yo Rosebank.

If anyone likes the fading gene let me know! He will be available. Spinners End Rosebank x Lil' Hoppers Cyclone

We only have ONE EWE LEFT. May is holding onto those lambs for dear life. May just couldn't lamb in May ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Thought I'd be dishing out a quick breakfast for the sheep before work...but Izzie had a surprise for me ๐Ÿค—

This little girl is so cute ๐Ÿ˜ She brings our tally to 6 rams and 5 ewe lambs. We officially have 2 mommas left to lamb! May, the milk ewe, and good old Rosebank.

This little girl's name is Aya (eye-uh). Izzie's full name is Isadora, which means Isis's gift. So we will do a fun Egyptian name theme. Aya means miracle in Arabic. Since Izzie was NOT supposed to be bred this year, it seemed fitting.

Fun fact: something we hope to improve upon Izzie's line is the fact that she doesn't have wool on her head. Per SOP for shetlands, there needs to be some fuzz up there. So we will be watching little Aya to see if we have that with her.
