Memorial Day means a little more once you’ve worn the uniform.

It reminds you that freedom has always come with a cost carried by very real people — people with families, friends, dreams, and futures.
Today isn’t about glorifying war. It’s about remembering those who never got the chance to come home and grow old.

As a Coast Guard veteran, I’m especially grateful for those who stood the watch before us.
