🦌 Reindeer shedding season is in full swing at Eagle Ranch!

Our older bull finished shedding his winter coat over a month ago and didn’t need any help from us. I’ve been brushing the rest of the herd to help remove loose hair and make the process a little more comfortable.

Our adult female is almost finished shedding, and our young male is making great progress too. Our two yearling females, however, still have quite a bit of winter coat left to lose.

Did you know that reindeer don’t all shed at the same time? Factors such as age, s*x, hormones, health, and even individual differences can affect when they switch from their thick winter coats to their lighter summer coats. That’s why it’s common to see some reindeer looking sleek and summer-ready while others still look a bit shaggy!

The fluffy hair flying everywhere may look messy, but it’s a sure sign that warmer days are here. ☀️🦌

Yesterday we celebrated a very special birthday at Eagle Ranch….Frank turned 84! 🎉

What started as a dream and a lot of hard work has grown into the ranch so many of you know and love today. From the animals and the lakes to the memories made here with family, friends, and visitors, so much of it exists because of his dedication and vision.

Please join us in wishing Frank a very happy 84th birthday! We are incredibly grateful for everything he has built and the legacy he continues to leave for future generations. ❤️

Our neighbors at Watson’s Grizzly Ridge are raising funds to build a new pool for their bears! 🐻💦

This new pool will help provide:
• Enrichment and play
• Relief during the hot summer months
• Long-term habitat improvements for the bears

They’ve already reached nearly HALF of their goal thanks to generous supporters, but they still need help reaching the full $12,260 needed to complete the project.

If you’ve ever visited, shared a post, supported local animal facilities, or simply love seeing animals thrive, consider helping out or sharing their fundraiser. Every little bit adds up and goes directly toward improving the bears’ habitat.
