crockpot chicken 🍗

spray crockpot with avocado oil

add thawed bird & drizzle with oil

combine 1 tbsp paprika, 2 tsp salt, 1 tsp pepper, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp thyme, & a sprinkle of cayenne.

rub on seasoning mix until chicken is fully covered.

you don’t need to add any liquid! the chicken will make enough on its own!

cook on low 6-8 hours

enjoy with some canned green beans, pickled beets, garden corn. & pat yourself on the back 🫶🏻

that’s a wrap on lambing season 🤩🤩

y’all this has been such a beautiful spring of babies !! the Lord has had His hand on our farm & our flock so clearly. quite a few bottle babies, but so little loss. 🙌🏻 we had plenty of sweet families wanting bottle babies for their families. + we only had 2 (TWO!!) singles this year. the rest were twins & triplets. these mamas are the best !

in honor of all this goodness, I’m running a sale on my Beginner’s Guide to Raising Sheep. 50% OFF 🐑🎉

just hop to the link in my bio !

& side note:

we have noticed that our big reds (a 12 week grower) have a much stronger instinct to peck & scratch than the jumbo cornish crosses (8 week grower & most commonly raised meat bird)

we tried the big reds too this year because of our frustrations with the lack of hardiness in the cornish crosses. it’s like the need/will to live has been bred out of them, so we had high loss last year (thankfully they’ve done SO well this year). but it’s like those natural chicken instincts have been bred out of them too

just interesting
