Margaret Mae and I were once again granted the honor this year of sponsoring the 2026 Blue Hill Fair’s “Best Herd” Class at the 4-H Dairy Goat Show in Honor of our daughter and sister Maiah Alyssa, who transitioned to the Otherside 6 & 1/2 years ago.

Maiah showed at the Blue Hill Fair from age 5 to 13 (2006-2014) and made it to every fair after except one through and including 2019 to support Margaret Mae, the Free 2 Be 4-H Club and Hancock County 4-H. She herself was driven to breed her 4-H Herd to excel in conformation and was the impetus behind bringing in the genetics to move the Painted Pepper herd in that direction.

It was definitely an honor to present this award of a TSC Gift Card and Reese’s PB Cups (Maiah’s favorite😋) to 4-Her Tucker for the 2nd year in row with his beautiful 4-H herd of Nubians (Lucky Run Farm) 💙🐐🍀🧚‍♂️

9.02.2026 — This past Wednesday *36*
4 oz containers of our Dairy Delights Farmstead Chevre were delivered to the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry in Ellsworth and *36* were also delivered to the Bar Harbor Food Pantry. This is our first solo Chevre donation without The Mindful Loaf and we aspire to continue.

As a family who has experienced food insecurity ourselves, it is a joy for us to give back and we are grateful to the Mindful Loaf for the inspiration💙🤗 If you are in or near Ellsworth or Bar Harbor and in need, please go get some Chevre!

If you are in a position to help with our Local Food Security Fund, we welcome you to join and help support our efforts! We now have information and links on our Farm Webpage to make donating easier wherever you are.

Painted Pepper Farm is continuing the important initiative started by The Mindful Loaf in 2025. We are passionate about assisting local food pantries to help battle Food Insecurity in our area and aspire to bring our Dairy Delights Farmstead Chevre to community pantries, but we can’t do it without help.

Every $5 raised will cover the cost of ingredients, production, and transport to a pantry of a 4oz tub of chèvre. We have donated 162 containers of chevre so far in 2026 and 444 containers since the inception of the Local Food Security Initiative.

Whether you are able to give $1, $5, or more, every dollar will make an impact on the lives of a local family in need and help increase our capacity to donate.

Let’s make a difference in our community together!

Donate in person at our Farm Stand OR online by following the link in our Bio or here:
