πΏ Growing skills and exploring careers at The Morton Arboretum! π±
Individuals in Little Friendsβ Employment Services Skill Development Program had the incredible opportunity to intern at The Morton Arboretum for five weeks, visiting twice a week to explore careers, develop new skills, and gain hands-on experience.
Throughout the internship, participants shadowed staff across departments including the Plant Clinic, Childrenβs Garden, seed collection, Gatehouse, on-site library, plant identification, and herbarium. From getting their hands dirty with engaging activities to meeting with the Arboretumβs HR team to learn about resumes and interviewing, participants gained valuable insight into the many career opportunities available in a unique workplace.
This experience gave our young neurodivergent adults the chance to discover new interests, build confidence, and gain meaningful work experience to add to their resumes.
A huge thank you to The Morton Arboretum and their incredible team for welcoming our participants, sharing their knowledge, and helping create opportunities for our individuals to explore their potential. We are so grateful for this partnership and the opportunity to help our participants grow their skills, confidence, and career possibilities! π
